Hi! My name is Mireia and I am a passionate of the English language. When I was 15 I moved to New York to know the language further and decided to study English Studies at university. My aim is to get all the students to love the language, to find ways in which English can be added into their daily life through entertainment, creating a nearly-inmersive environment.

I started working as an Arabic teacher more than 10 years ago. During this time I have taught students from various countries and of different ages. They are learning Arabic for several reasons such as conversation, politics, Islam and literature. We have enjoyed learning with photos, videos, music and games to develop the different skills like speaking, listening, reading and writing. I studied two diplomas in teaching Arabic to foreigners at Cairo University and a course at the American University in Cairo and currently I am studying masters in the same field.

I’m a Finnish language trainer in Helsinki, and I offer one-to-one lessons for people learning either language. I have four years’ experience teaching adults from all around the world with various backgrounds and vastly different levels, skills and individual difficulties.

My approach is both academic and practical. Having studied both languages independently as well as at university level, I am intensely aware of the difficulties learners have. I clarify things in simple terms that the student can understand. I explain how things work and why to ensure the learner understands exactly what’s going on and can use it confidently. I give ample opportunity to practice it actively and passively in tailored lessons with games, music, videos, writing exercises, grammar drills and conversation.

I provide most learning material electronically from my expansive library, but also purchase physical copies of textbooks for students when possible and necessary.

I am originally from Vancouver, B.C., but I live in Peru now because I love sunshine. I am a very experienced teacher, as you can see in my resume, and yet I am still having a lot of fun. My teaching philosophy is to love teaching so that students will love learning. Bringing joy to the classroom is what it’s all about.

Hola a todos! Hello everyone! I am Alexandra, native Spanish and Certified Primary Teacher with 10 years of experience in teaching different subjects, especially English, to students of all ages and levels: from little girls to teenagers, adults and enterprises.

I am passionate about education and what I understand as an excelent teacher is one who is committed to the important job we perform by trying to connect with our students, listen and observe them in order to adjust to their personal needs and ways of learning as well as their interests and curiosities. This guarantees a greater connection, motivation and involvement of those students and, therefore, a more optimal and efficient teaching and learning process.

I have been curious since I was born and this leads me to constantly study and learn new things in a self-taught way and through my students. I also have the abilities to listen, observe and adapt well developed. In addition, as I am also a Graphic Designer. Therefore, my materials and methods tend to be self-designed and created, very visual and dynamic and they help me enhance my students' curiosity, motivation and learning.

To ensure that my students learn quickly and efficiently, I use materials that contribute to the content in an experiential, practical and cooperative way. Thus, these are the methods I use the most: experiential learning, project-based and practice learning, collaborative learning, Flipped Classroom and gamification. My materials are not only on paper, but tend to be digital through various platforms and multimedia tools that allow learning, adding and building further on what we are learning as well as my students to be able to collaborate and do projects together. In addition, I try to transfer the practice outside the classroom to real life. All this makes my students learn quickly and significantly while they enjoy all the different activities we are doing.

As you can see, I am very dynamic, creative and innovative. I am ready to start helping you in your learning process of the Spanish (Spanish), Basque or English language, even a basic level of French!

I'm an English language teacher for more than 15 years with CELTA ( Cambridge English Level 5 Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages); for sure, my lessons are active and updated. I can work with different levels mostly with adults.
I've been teaching lessons on line since October 2019 using Zoom.
Students' participation is maximised in my language lessons, for sure they are student-centred; in other words, I ensure plenty of student talking time through the use of communicative activities and consistent pair checks, clarifying the target language to an appropriate depth and in a student-centred way.
