If the student needs to know more grammar I start my lessons teaching more rules, following a Structural approach: this means that I would start teaching the language as a complex of grammatical rules which are to be learned one at a time in a set order. Along with that it is possible to do some grammar translations to and from the target language and to practice some Audio - Lingual method (learning through the practice of dialogues of every situations). Only after all this I push the student towards a Direct method, that means that it is possible only to use the target language: the teacher explains everything using the target language only and the learner is not allowed to use his or her mother tongue.  When the student starts to speak fluently I like to focus more on the pronunciation, about the way he/she sounds practising with the student more conversation, analyzing his/her fluency, mental blocks or mispronunciation.
