Indirect object pronouns (pronombres de objeto indirecto ) tells you to whom or for whom the action is done.
Example:
Indirect object pronoun forms are the same of the direct object ones, except for the third person-forms le and les.

---|---|---|
me | me | to me |
te | te | to you |
lo/la | le | to him/her/it/you (form.) |
nos | nos | to us |
os | os | to you |
los/las | les | to them (m./f.)/you (form.) |
Examples:

Like the direct object pronouns, indirect object pronouns refers to something or someone previously mentioned.
Example:
Este jersey te queda muy bien. Te lo regalo. (This jumper fits you very well. I will give it to you.)
Verb | English translation | Example |
---|---|---|
contar(le) algo (a alguien) | to tell something (to someone) | Le conté que pasó esa noche. (I told him what happened that night.) |
dar(le) algo (a alguien) | give something (to someone) | Me dio un beso. (He gave me a kiss.) |
decir(le) algo (a alguien) | say something (to someone) | Ya te he dicho que fumar no está permitido. (I have already told you that smoking is not allowed.) |
enviar(le) algo (a alguien) | send something (to somenone) | Ayer el director de los recursos humanos me envió un correo. (Yesterday the human resources manager sent me an email.) |
escribir(le) algo (a alguien) | write something (to someone) | Les escribí una postal de Colombia. (I wrote a postcard from Colombia to them.) |
mandar(le) algo (a alguien) | send something (to someone) | Mi novio me mandó un ramo de rosas. (My boyfriend sent me a bouquet of roses.) |
pedir(le) algo (a alguien) | ask something (of someone) | Le pedí un favor. (I asked him a favour.) |
regalar(le) algo (a alguien) | give a present (to someone) | Nuestro padre nos regaló unas rosas. (Our father gave us some roses.) |
servir(le) algo (a alguien) | to serve something (to someone) | Mi madre nos sirvió la sopa. (Our mother served the soup to us.) |
traer(le) algo (a alguien) | to bring something (to someone) | El cartero me trajo una carta. (The postman brought me a letter.) |
Like direct object pronouns, indirect object pronouns are generally placed before verbs.
Examples:
However, indirect object pronoun placement depends on the conjugated form of the verb.
Pay attention to the following cases:
With negative commands, the pronoun precedes the verb which refers to the command.
Example:
No me pidas eso! (Don't ask me that!)
With affirmative commands, attach the pronoun to the verb which indicates the command.
Example:
¡Mándale* un ramo de flores! (Send her a bouquet of flowers!)
_____________________________________________________________________________________
* If the stressed syllable of the verb is the next-to-last one (not counting the pronoun), add the accent mark
When used with infinitive forms, the pronoun occurs after the infinitive and it is attached to it.
Example:
Acabo de darle una mala noticia. (I have just given him a bad news.)
Otherwise, it can be placed before the verb which precedes the infinitive form.
Example:
Le acabo de dar una mala noticia. (I have just given him a bad news.)
When used with gerund forms, the pronoun occurs after the verb and it is attached to it.
Example:
Estoy envíandote el correo. (I am sending the mail to you.)
Otherwise, it can be placed before the verb which precedes the gerund form.
Example:
Te estoy envíando el correo. (I am sending the mail to you.)
When used with an indirect object pronoun, the verb gustar (to like) is always used in the third-person (singular or plural).
Examples:
The indirect object pronoun refers to the person who likes something (subject of the sentence in English).
Indirect object pronoun | Singular subject | Plural subject |
---|---|---|
me te le nos os les | gusta | gustan |
Examples:
To put the stress on who likes something, a prepositional pronoun may be added before the indirect object pronoun.
Examples:

Hello!
I am Jérôme.
There has never been a better time to learn a foreign language. We all have a good reason to learn at least one: our job, our friend circle, our envy to travel.
I have been training professionals and students to speak fluently and confidently for 10 years. Their level has significantly improved. They have got very good results and evolved professionally and personally!
Is it really necessary to remind you why English is so important? The world’s number 1 language, a must for those who want to be internationally successful. It enables you to communicate with 1 billion people in the world! In other words, whether you want to travel, work or live abroad, speaking English is necessary.
French is a major language, if you want to have a career in tourism, luxury, be a chef or work for international organizations. So many doors open when you speak French! It is the 6th most spoken language in the world, with 300 million people on the 5 continents.
Foreign languages are my great passion in life. That is why I am determined to see you make progress. This is YOUR LANGUAGE COURSE! I will adapt the classes to your needs and your interests and will propose you customized activities. Together, we will improve your written and oral expression. I will train you to speak like a native and take you to the next level.
If you want to speak English or French fluently too, do not hesitate to contact me! I am convinced that you will also have something to teach me!

Dear Student,
I am Daniela, a qualified teacher of Bulgarian as a foreign language.
I will be delighted to help you learn Bulgarian. I am originally from Sofia, Bulgaria. I am passionate about languages; I am fluent in English and Spanish, Czech and Slovenian. I have helped many foreigners now living in Bulgaria to better understand and speak with confidence in their social environment. I am always interested in their motivation to learn Bulgarian and I adapt myself completely to the needs and tastes of each student. My teaching style is very communicative, I teach through dialogues, and real situations so my students start speaking from the very first lesson. I make my classes fun and enjoyable for all students, as I believe it is very important that the student enjoys learning, that they look forward to the next class. We often talk about culture, traditions, history and all kinds of topics that interest the student and in this way, progress is much more natural and faster.
Many thanks.
Best regards, Daniela

ENGLISH LANGUAGE.
I got certified with the University of Cambridge TKT test, developed empathy to students, polished my method, and the last 5 years I have been teaching english in an online environment.
After years teaching online, I can say that the computer screen is not a limitation. I love to see my students thrive in a new language, I develop my own exercises too, My classes are fun, dynamic and interesting to say the least, I believe I have the patience to create exercises and drills for my students and approach learning from a different perspective and overcome boredom, tiredness and lack of discipline.
I work with realia mostly, and I can tell you that nothing is more powerful than things and situations that are personal to a person.

Hi, I'm Franci. I'm an all-around but one of my favourite things is to teach and spread my passion for languages and cultures. I studied translation and intercultural communication, collecting moves around 5 countries.
I have many experiences as private teacher of Italian, English and German for kids, teenagers and adults. My biggest satisfaction so far has been to see a girl hating the German language at the beginning, ending up pursuing a university path in German!
What is important for me as a teacher: I want to understand your motivation and need for learning or getting better in a language. My methods will be tailored to your needs, interest, and learning skills.

Hola, qué tal!
I have always enjoyed working with languages, culture, education and people. I am originally from Venezuela so Spanish is my native language and I have been living in Belgium since 2009. My degree as Master in Industrial Sciences is equated here.
I am a teacher and since 2018 I have been teaching Spanish to adults. I am able to boost the self-confidence of my students. My lessons are for absolute beginners (direction level 1 and 2), intermediate (direction level 3) and advanced (direction level 4). Conversation is also possible. I focus on the four most important skills: speaking skills; listening skills, writing skills and reading skills. And also on grammar and spontaneous communication.
Teaching and language are just my passion and I would like to teach it to others. I work with adults and seniors, but know that every person learns in a different way. Pleasure in learning and daring to communicate are paramount to me: We use Spanish book and workbook; audio material (Spanish songs), card games and more!
Los espero!
