General rules on the use of adjectives in Turkish
- The adjective is always stable and never conjugated.
- There is no masculine, feminine and neuter form of the adjectives in the Turkish language.
- Adjectives never get plural suffixes. (ler/lar)
- Adjectives come before the noun.
- Adjectives can be formed from both nouns or verbs as in English.

List of Turkish adjectives
The most common adjectives in the Turkish language and the opposite forms of the adjectives are indicated below.

Examples

- Kitapta zor sorular var. (There are difficult questions in the book.)
Position of adjectives in Turkish
Turkish adjectives are always placed before the noun. Unlike the English language, there is no specific order in terms of the position of the adjectives before the noun.
Example:
- the red old car
≠ the old red car 
- kırmızı eski araba = eski kırmızı araba
Indefinite article with adjectives
The word 'bir' is used as the number ‘one’ and as the indefinite article ‘a’ or ‘an.’ When the indefinite article and one or more adjectives modify one noun, the adjective comes first, and the indefinite article follows it.
Example:

Nouns used as adjectives
Specific types of nouns are also used as adjectives:
1. Nouns indicating gender
Nouns that indicate the gender can be used as an adjective.
Examples:
- Erkek asistan çok mutlu. (The male assistant is very happy.)
- Kadın öğretmen sınıfa gelmedi. (The female teacher didn't come to class.)
2. Nouns indicating occupation
Nouns that indicate the occupation or person of a certain profession can be used as an adjective.
Examples:
- Ressam kız çok geç kaldı. (The girl who is a painter is late.)
- Gazeteci adam nerede? (Where is the man who is journalist?)
3. Nouns indicating a nationality
Nouns that indicate a person of a nationality can be used as an adjective.
Examples:
- Bunu İngiliz ressam yaptı. (The English painter did this.)
- Türk kadınlar bunu bilmiyor. (Turkish women doesn't know this.)
Degrees of adjectives
Comparatives and superlatives are used for indicating the degrees of adjectives.
Comparatives
The adverb 'daha' (more) is used before the adjective to show comparative of it.
Examples
- Bu çanta daha ağır. (This bag is heavier.)
- Arkadaşım daha çalışkan. (My friend is more hardworking.)
The adverb 'daha az' (less) is used before the adjective for the expression of something less.
- Bu çanta daha az ağır. (This bag is less heavy.)
- Arkadaşım daha az çalışkan. (My friend is less hardworking.)
Superlatives
The adverb 'en' (most) is used before the adjective to show the highest degree of the quality.
Examples
- Gördüğüm en zeki insan. (She is the most clever person ı've ever seen.)
- Sınıfın en hızlısı kim? (Who is the fastest in the class?)

(I'm not sure whether this quotation belongs to him or not, but I liked it. :) “He who dares to teach must never cease to learn.” First of all, we as teachers must improve ourselves about everything such as cultural knowledge, technology, best seller books new novels etc. We should keep up with the times and try to understand our students.
Then we should know students’ interests, needs, backgrounds and their level of English / Turkish. If we know the aforementioned things, it would be easier for us to decide what kind of materials we can use to attract their attention. Also, one of the key points is that we should motivate the students to learn. As teachers we should teach our students why they learn language/grammar/vocabulary etc. rather than just memorization. Regarding teaching methods we can use student-centered methods. We should use examples from real life so they can broaden students’ knowledge. Also using examples from real life, help students to internalize the examples. I strongly believe that we should make our students acquire the language from all aspects including reading, listening, writing, and speaking.
All in all, as a teacher we have lots of things to do. One of our most important responsibilities’ is to help students to understand that they have enough power and capacity to learn a language if they are determined enough....

Hello everybody. I am a native Turkish speaker. I growed up in Istanbul. Also I am a Turkish Language and Literature teacher/academic with 12 years of experience. I have a BA and MA degree. Now I am writing my doctoral dissertation. It's about 'Turkish Novels'.
I have 6 years experience in teaching Turkish to foreigners. Also I have a "Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language Certicate". Now I am a teaching assistant in a university in Turkey.
Teaching is my passion. I motivate my students very well. I give them homeworks and follow their progress. My lessons are cheerful. My students usually say they feel relax in my lessons.
I have written a master thesis, two books and now I've been writing my PhD thesis. Turkish literature is my profession. When you made a lot of progress we will read and discuss on Turkish literary. I am a huge fan of Dostoyevksi. I think he is the best author off all times. My favourites from Turkish literary are Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar and İhsan Oktay Anar. Maybe we will be discussing their writings one day, who knows :)
I am a patient and cheerful teacher. Because I really love my job. I believe that I'm making language learning enjoyable and easy.
I gave lessons to so many adults. They were from several countries. I can understand my students' needs and organize the lessons according to my students' interests, wishes and their goals. Because I know that: everybody has not same reasons for learning Turkish.
Also I've studied with 12-18 aged teens for two years. I know their needs and I am good at getting along teenagers :)
I know that reality: every student is not same, so I schedule my lessons to each students' individual needs. I know that how a lesson goes more cheerful and educational. I'm using whiteboard in the lessons. (It's essential to explain grammatical points.) Also I am using a lesson book, pictures, flashcards, videos, recordings and and etc. I give homeworks to my students. I'm following my students' progresses.

I was finding books in the world and I was publishing them in Turkish. I am practically and professionally working on Turkish language and literature. Later on, I moved France to continue my education and works about literature and art. Currently, I am learning french.

For speaking practice: illustrations, daily conversations
For listening practice: Turkish songs, movies, series
For reading practice: news and articles about Turkey (for advance students), stories, picture books (for intermediate students), texts from language books (for beginner and intermediate students.)
If students need to focus specific area like writing etc. I am designing my class according to that.
In addition, it is because I am using broad material about Turkish media, you will be familiar the culture and sociology of Turkey.
I like to do lesson in creative and in an organized way; therefore, I believe you will learn fast and you will enjoy learning Turkish with me!

I have just started my classes with Esra and she is a very good teacher. She guides you very well through the class with her presentation and provides you with a lot of vocabulary and visual input which is vital to start speaking and constructing sentences. Her presentations and her explanations guide you through a very dinamic class in which the student has to speak and apply the topics learned in a variety of examples. This variety and the structure helps you a lot to start with the language. Her homework assigments are also very carefully prepared and help you with the repetitions to interiorate the concepts learned and to put them into practice. Loris is a great teacher! He is patient, knowledgeable and has a great structure to teach the Turkish language. He has a plan from lesson one, he detailed the process to me before we began and gave me a background explanation of the origins of Turkish and where it can be found. I was very nervous and apprehensive about learning a new language, especially Turkish. Loris put me at ease from the very beginning and made learning easier than I expected! I am a professional Turkish Teacher and a translator with a master degree.I have visited so many countries to research cultures and Turkish Dialects.
Since I was a child, my dream was to travel to Asia and learn all the other Turkish Languages such as Kyrgyz Turkish, Kazak Turkish, Tatar Turkish, Tuva Turkish) as well as to research the similarities and differences between Modern Turkish and other Turkish languages.
In the past, I worked as a lecturer in the School of Foreign Languages of Turkish Education at Kyrgyzstan Turkey Manas University for 3 years. Hi, my name is Ayşegül. I graduated from Hacettepe University in the department of English Language Teaching. I'm an English teacher in a private institution now. I can teach both English and Turkish.
First and foremost, I want to start with one of my favourite quotation from Richard Henry Dana(!) (I'm not sure whether this quotation belongs to him or not, but I liked it. :) “He who dares to teach must never cease to learn.” First of all, we as teachers must improve ourselves about everything such as cultural knowledge, technology, best seller books new novels etc. We should keep up with the times and try to understand our students.
Then we should know students’ interests, needs, backgrounds and their level of English / Turkish. If we know the aforementioned things, it would be easier for us to decide what kind of materials we can use to attract their attention. Also, one of the key points is that we should motivate the students to learn. As teachers we should teach our students why they learn language/grammar/vocabulary etc. rather than just memorization. Regarding teaching methods we can use student-centered methods. We should use examples from real life so they can broaden students’ knowledge. Also using examples from real life, help students to internalize the examples. I strongly believe that we should make our students acquire the language from all aspects including reading, listening, writing, and speaking.
All in all, as a teacher we have lots of things to do. One of our most important responsibilities’ is to help students to understand that they have enough power and capacity to learn a language if they are determined enough....

Hello everybody. I am a native Turkish speaker. I growed up in Istanbul. Also I am a Turkish Language and Literature teacher/academic with 12 years of experience. I have a BA and MA degree. Now I am writing my doctoral dissertation. It's about 'Turkish Novels'.
I have 6 years experience in teaching Turkish to foreigners. Also I have a "Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language Certicate". Now I am a teaching assistant in a university in Turkey.
Teaching is my passion. I motivate my students very well. I give them homeworks and follow their progress. My lessons are cheerful. My students usually say they feel relax in my lessons.
I have written a master thesis, two books and now I've been writing my PhD thesis. Turkish literature is my profession. When you made a lot of progress we will read and discuss on Turkish literary. I am a huge fan of Dostoyevksi. I think he is the best author off all times. My favourites from Turkish literary are Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar and İhsan Oktay Anar. Maybe we will be discussing their writings one day, who knows :)
I am a patient and cheerful teacher. Because I really love my job. I believe that I'm making language learning enjoyable and easy.
I gave lessons to so many adults. They were from several countries. I can understand my students' needs and organize the lessons according to my students' interests, wishes and their goals. Because I know that: everybody has not same reasons for learning Turkish.
Also I've studied with 12-18 aged teens for two years. I know their needs and I am good at getting along teenagers :)
I know that reality: every student is not same, so I schedule my lessons to each students' individual needs. I know that how a lesson goes more cheerful and educational. I'm using whiteboard in the lessons. (It's essential to explain grammatical points.) Also I am using a lesson book, pictures, flashcards, videos, recordings and and etc. I give homeworks to my students. I'm following my students' progresses.

I was born in İstanbul and I lived there. I hold a bachelor degree in cinema and television at İstanbul Şehir University. During my university years, my stories have been published in major Turkish literary magazines. After my graduation I have been specializing in children's book illustration and literature. I founded children's book publishing house in Turkey. The name is Yıldız Tozu Publishing and my books were released. I worked as an editor-in-chief in the company. I was finding books in the world and I was publishing them in Turkish. I am practically and professionally working on Turkish language and literature. Later on, I moved France to continue my education and works about literature and art. Currently, I am learning french.
I have experience in teaching Turkish in years. Furthermore, I speak English very well (TOEFL B2) and French (B1) it is advantage for students who are beginners.

I have just started my classes with Esra and she is a very good teacher. She guides you very well through the class with her presentation and provides you with a lot of vocabulary and visual input which is vital to start speaking and constructing sentences. Her presentations and her explanations guide you through a very dinamic class in which the student has to speak and apply the topics learned in a variety of examples. This variety and the structure helps you a lot to start with the language. Her homework assigments are also very carefully prepared and help you with the repetitions to interiorate the concepts learned and to put them into practice. I am looking forward to the next lessons because through this approach we will be able to move at a steady and fast pace!
