Our offer
The plural noun is used when people want to describe more than one object, person, animal, event, place or idea. The following endings are used for plural nouns in Dutch:
Take online language lessons with a professional teacher
Most nouns get '-en' at the ending to form the plural. The following rule is used to form plural nouns:
noun + en
Examples:
Noun | Plural noun | Example | Translation |
---|---|---|---|
Het bord (the plate) | De borden (the plates) | Ik zet de borden in de kast. | I put the plates in the cupboard. |
De fiets (the bike) | De fietsen (the bikes) | Er staan fietsen op straat. | There are bikes on the street. |
De dief (the thief) | De dieven (the thieves) | Zij zijn dieven. | They are thieves. |
De mok (the mug) | De mokken (the mugs) | Wij gaan meer mokken kopen. | We are going to buy more mugs. |
Mind the following rules when forming the plural nouns:
1. Short vowels stay short and long vowels stay long.
Example: kop (mug) - koppen (mugs)
2. In the plural form, the double vowel from the last syllabe disappears.
Example: heer (sir) - heren (sirs)
3. If a singular noun ends in 'f' or 's', these consonants change into 'v' or 'z'.
Example: reus (giant) - reuzen (giants)
Besides in '-en' plural nouns can also end in '-s.

Nouns that end in '–el', '-em', '-en', '-er', '-je' mostly end in '-s'. The table below shows some examples:

Het meisje (the girl) | De meisjes (the girls) | Meisjes letten jullie op? | Girls do you pay attention? |
Nouns that end in the single vowels '–a', '-i', '-o', '-u', '-y' get a '-'s' when forming the plural. The apostrophe is added to keep the long single vowel at the end long.
Take a look at the table below to see how the plural with '-'s' is formed:

Nouns that end in '-heid' in the single form, end in '– heden' in the plural.

Hello,
I'm offering informal Dutch and English lessons based on conversation and will conduct my lessons for as much as possible in the target language.
I use text, weblinks to tv shows to get us talking and am a fan of the TPRS method.
There's a lot of information on that method online. Basically it's getting to know the structure Dutch and English through simple conversation. (questions about 1 or several sentences on any topic)
I have some useful weblinks to tv shows in Dutch (with subtitles in Dutch) adjusted to your level and the shows are entertaining too. :-)
We can discuss the shows preferably in the target language of course.
I can explain some grammar too if needed and have articles and books ready to read from. This again will be adjusted to your proficiency. But of course if you'd like to focus on a topic which has your interest that is possible as well. This makes it more personal and more fun.
I've been teaching for about a year now on another platform to students from all over the world and really enjoy having the experience again as I used to be a vocal coach back in the days when I attended conservatory in the Netherlands.

Juf Elvira has great intuition and attention towards the student's needs from the first (introduction) lesson and tailors suitable curriculum to meet these needs. The dialogue is made only in Dutch so the mind does not waver between English or Dutch, it stays focused on making the dialogue happen in Dutch, one way or the other. She has good attention to detail and corrects any mistakes, and also gives hints about small nuances, which will help the student grasp the native way of pronouncing some words. Also she has quality material and a good balance of homework, based on the availability of the student. I really enjoyed our first lessons and I believe she will help me advance my Dutch to a level where I can communicate with people easily in my daily life, which is an important long term goal for me.

Hi, my name is Dita and I am happy to teach you! I am a professional teacher of Italian and Czech language for foreigners. My mother tongue is Czech and I offer language lessons for all levels. I have been working online as well as offline for many years and currently teach adults both individually and in groups. I also collaborate with various international companies. In the Czech Republic, I studied Italian philology, language and culture at university. I lived 10 years in Italy and even now I go there very often, I have family there. I know the language on the street, but also the academic language.
My lessons are professional, friendly, fun, I always adapt the style and time of teaching to the needs of the student. I prefer students who want to see the result and are willing to work on it regularly, because the student's result is also very important to me. I use the book Česky krok za krokem and several Italian books. In addition to this, I use many digital materials to make the lesson interesting.
For students who have little time and want to use their time effectively, I do WhatsApp lessons, where we talk 2-3 times a week for 15 minutes. You can choose the form of communication you prefer (message, call or voice recording) and you always receive feedback.
I also do asynchronous teaching where you study when and where you want. I send you the teaching material with a video, text and exercises and you have a week to do it. Of course you get feedback.

I am learning Czech with Dita since a few weeks and I willingly recommend her. She has very good communication skills and she makes sure that the lessons are motivating. - Writing (15 min): Q and A sessions where I write your answers down and further discuss sentence structures and mistakes.
- Speaking (20 min): eloquently answering questions which are commonly asked in the exams.
-Listening (10 min): listening to an audio of a short story and answering questions.
The lesson plan varies according to your level of Dutch. Naturally, more advanced speakers focus on speaking and writing.
I always make sure I'm prepared before our lesson starts, so we can start right away and make the most of your time.
