HideHow to create the plural form of Slovak adjectives
The plural of adjectives depends on the gender of the noun they are connected with.
The general rule is that we add:
- the suffix -í when the noun is masculine and personal
- the suffix -é or -ie (depending on the ending of the adjective) when the noun is feminine, neutral or masculine non-personal
Let´s see some examples:

There is a rhythmic rule, where there cannot be two long syllables next to each other. That is why it is horúci and not horúcí.
The possesive adjectives (representing the ownership) have a different form of plural. We add:
- the suffix -i when the noun is masculine and personal
- the suffix -e when the noun is feminine, neutral or masculine non-personal

Hi! I’m Yasmina, a professional German, English, Russian and Slovak teacher for adults and teenagers. I am fluent in 4 foreign languages and I have sucessfuly passed C2 level exams for English and German. I have a Masters degree in foreign languages and cultures from Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia. During my studies I have done a couple of exchanges abroad (Germany, Belgium, Portugal, Italy, Qatar, Iceland, etc).
