Before being a teacher I've been a student infact I graduated in languages so I know very well how hard can be learning a new language. I'm interested in music, cinema, literature and I enjoy talking about several topics. I've been teaching since 2009 and in 2012 I've qualified as italian language teacher. I've experience with children and adults, with in company courses, with total beginners as well as with advanced. Over the last years I've became specialized in one-to-one or small groups lessons because in this way I can create a tailored programme for each student. I follow a communicative approach and in my classes there's lot of room for speaking but I don't neglect grammar, listening and writing. I provide you with material, sometimes selfmade, other times taken from books, videos, or songs, but always useful to help you to immerse in the target language! At the end of every lesson I always assign homework in order to revise the things learnt. If a student feels that a tutor cares for them, he/she will probably perform better because he/she can feel the support that a Tutor is willing to give them. Great tutors not only care about their job but also the welfare of a student. A charismatic tutor must be respectful. In some circumstances, a tutor will have multilingual classes wherein a student is from a different country. In that case a charismatic tutor must be sensitive to cultural differences and traditions of their student. A student should feel safe and welcomed. Most importantly, a great tutor is passionate. The most important value an English tutor should have is passion. A tutor faces Students everyday having different cultures and styles of learning. That is the reason why tutors should be passionate. This happens when tutors think teaching is not only a job for a living, it is also living for the job. My attitude reflects all the character traits mentioned above and many other qualities that make me your best tutor!

I prepare lessons for each student individually based on their specific needs for each language. For example: if you language need is Business English, I prepare your lesson on what you need to do your work. If your language need is to learn English from scratch, we will discuss a program to get you started from the beginning to when you can speak English with confidence.

I have been in tutoring and training for 15 years and I follow a communicative approach with interesting themes and discussions that draw on your life experiences and everyday situations. 
I was born in South Africa and live close to Cape Town.  I speak both Afrikaans and English as native languages. I studied Human Resources and specialized in training. In 2015 I added a TEFL/TESOL certificate to my qualifications. I was given a traditional African name by a student group in South Africa and they named me Noluthandu which means “a person who likes people.” This was a great honor for me. I am very much excited to walk the exciting path with you while learning a new language. I am currently enrolled in the DELTA program (Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) which is the highest English teacher training worldwide recognized.
At the beginning of my classes, it is important to evaluate students' needs and aims and in order to do that, I will send a "needs' analysis" so that I can better help you with your learning.
I mainly use Zoom as teaching platform because I think it is much better than Skype or Microsoft Teams because it allows a much better student-teacher interaction pattern.
According to Steven Krashen, one of the most renown linguist and education experts: "The best methods are therefore those that supply 'comprehensible input' in low anxiety situations, containing messages that students really want to hear. These methods do not force early production in the second language but allow students to produce when they are 'ready', recognizing that improvement comes from supplying communicative and comprehensible input, and not from forcing and correcting production".
Personally, I think that this is the right approach to teach because as a teacher we need to create a safe environment for our students, lower their effective filter so they can perform at their best potential.
I realized after years of experience as a languages student and teacher that several countries not just my country (Italy) have been using a teaching methodology which is obsolete and not suitable for students' needs and aims. The 80-20 rule is the sure way to achieve this goal. Can you guess which part is the student's one? The 80 of course, you are the one who needs to improve, to talk and learn. We as teachers we are doing whatever it takes to guide you through the process.
During my experience as a teacher I worked with teenagers, university students and adults. I had the pleasure to teach Arabic to university students who needed further assistance for their exams. I taught to adults’ businessmen who needed to learn the basis of Arabic because of their work. I taught French and English to teenagers and university students that needed further help with their exams or simply to improve their listening and speaking skills. I have also experience in teaching Business English.
