Hello! I'm here to help and guide your journey to acquire Korean! I have 4 years of language teaching experience, from children to... adults! Thanks to Master program in Linguistics and cognitive studies, I have knowledge in a variety of languages-Italian, French, German, Japanese, (standard) Arabic, etc. Depending on your mother tongue, I can help you to grasp how Korean works differently in grammar or pronunciation. I'm particularly interested in semantics and phonology, so I can give you some interesting native pov why we do have such expressions in Korean, etc. Learning Korean can be a long and challenging journey. So we can discuss how to enrich 'our' class time, such as Korean series shadowing/following, remote cooking class while learning some kitchen related vocabulary, etc! If you are at advanced level, we can go out (remotely) and talk about stuff that we see in the streets to apply what you have learned and learn new things! Read more

Hi, I'm Michaela! I studied filmmaking at Korea National University of Arts, where I produced several short films as well as a stage musical. I... also studied theatre arts and completed a work placement as a design assistant in West End theatre productions through the International Year Abroad Programme at Middlesex University, London. More recently, I've earned two master's degrees in Global Media and Communications from the London School of Economics and Political Science and Fudan University in Shanghai. I have a few years' experience of teaching English to Koreans and Korean to non-Korean speakers. Specifically, I taught conversational English at a cultural centre for a year and tutored students in both English and Korean for a couple of years. I also teach my English-speaking friends Korean grammar and expressions all the time because I just love it! I was born and bred in Seoul and therefore speak in the standard Korean accent. I speak fluent English and a bit of Japanese and Chinese as well. I like using media content such as films, TV shows, Youtube videos and news/magazine articles as teaching materials. If you want to improve your Korean whilst keeping abreast of the current trends in media, don't hesitate to opt for a trial lesson! Read more

Hello! My passport name is In Ae, which is Korean and bizarre to many people, so you are welcome to call me Ellen. I am South Korean, but I... grew up in Kenya and currently I am a student at Caen in France. I’ve taught English to people from many different age groups with many different language objectives (as a tutor). The last two years were spent teaching English at an English kindergarten, a 학원 in Korea as a full-time teacher. I haven’t officially taught Korean before, but I’ve volunteered as a translator (both English-Korean, Korean-English), and I have taught in Korean during the Covid years where I spent in Korea. My teaching methods vary from group to group because they are dependent on a)the starting language level, b) the final goal (level of the language people want to achieve), and c) the objective for the lessons (for example a lesson for test preparation would be very different than a lesson for traveling). However, I do expect people to try and I expect the same effort that I would be putting into the lessons. My curriculum and learning materials also become more set after getting to know the language level and the objective. I don’t like having to waste money on precious resources that wouldn’t be used, and I have found that all people, no matter how similar learning styles they might have to someone else, are unique in the way they input information in their brains. Please let me know if you have any questions! Read more

Hello, こんにちは、 안녕, Bună ! I am Iulia. Not Lulia, but iulia with a capital i(笑笑) I have been a tutor for almost 7 years... now. I started by helping kids with homework for school, then teaching English and occasionally Romanian. I graduated BA in Japanese and Korean studies, so I can tell you a lot about Japanese and Korean culture, literature, and society. I always tell my students that when you learn a foreign language, you have to look at the culture as well. So my lessons are half about learning the language and half about different cultural aspects that we find interesting and unique. But at the beginning, we discuss what your learning goal is. If you really want to focus on grammar, we can do that; if you want to learn about culture, that is also super fun to do. I play games with my students, we solve quizzes and riddles, and we watch videos and discuss them, so a variety of materials can be used. Being an introvert myself, I understand that speaking a foreign language can create a lot of anxiety. So if you are motivated to develop your speaking skills, but find it difficult, give it a go with me! Read more
