Language is always a mean to convey culture and many people approach Italian driven by curiosity for Italian food, music, fashion, literature, lifestyle, cinema. These all are regular topics of my classes, through which I try to convey a multifaceted image of my country. I have a true passion for metalinguistic reflection and I am happy to answer to students’ questions, but I generally prefer guiding them to the autonomous discovery of grammar rules, through an inductive process. I am very patient and I always try to establish a positive environment, where errors are chances to learn and not something to be ashamed of. I believe in the importance of promoting students’ responsibility in their learning process, stimulating their commitment and valuing their learning styles. Fun and gratification are a more powerful drive than mere obligation.
I provide texts and materials to work on in class and to revise at home. In order to reach the best results in all the communicative skills, I always enrich my classes with visual support, listening activities, videos, games.

Teaching is a special role for one to play because it requires patience. I was able to learn more about my teaching ability through helping my brother and his friends with their homework and school assignments. I strongly believe in using color as part of my teaching methods because things are easier to remember when there is color attached. I will be using mostly paper to emphasize on things being taught so that they can be studied and re-learned at a larger stage. I will be using charts and graphs so the students are able to see and not just picture what is being taught. I will also share documents and articles relating to what is being taught just for interest and so that the students are able to learn more outside the class sessions.

My name is Laia, and I am an infant and primary school teacher, specialized in additional languages. This year I have finished my second degree in Early Childhood Education. Previously, I had completed my degree in Primary Education in English. This last year I have combined my studies with a job in the reception classroom of a school. My main aim was to teach newly arrived pupils the official languages of my country and helping them to adapt to their new environment.

In addition, I have been an English teacher and monitor with students of different ages. I can adapt to my students, looking for the best way to individualize their learning.

Furthermore, I did the 120 hours course with TEFL this summer as I decided to delve more deeply into teaching English as a foreign language to help my students in a better way.
