My teaching method for each class : a grammar point together with listening, a lot of speaking with conversation questions or games. While you speak, I write all the new words you need to express yourself, illustrated by pictures or translated in your language.

I was born and raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I have been an educator in the Ann Arbor area since 2000. That is when I graduated from the University of Michigan. Later, I obtained a Master’s Degree in school counseling from Eastern Michigan University. In the years that followed, I taught English, theater, Spanish, and spent ten years as a high school counselor in Ann Arbor. Now, I live near Ann Arbor with my wife, daughter, son, and our dog, Pomzilla. We say he is part Husky, part Pomeranian, and part Godzilla! That's how we made his name.

I have lived in the US and Spain and have traveled to South America and Europe. Someday I would also love to visit Asia, Australia, and Africa. When I can, I love to go to baseball games in Detroit, Michigan. I would love to talk to you about your own travels! Or we could discuss where you live, your job, your hobbies, your amazing family, your cute pets, or your future plans.

My teaching style is fun and I focus more on conversational English. I love to joke and have fun in lessons. I would also love to work with you on your writing. I have the internationally recognised Cambridge CELTA qualification (Pass A) in English language teaching. I am teaching English to those learning for professional reasons or academic study as well as those learning for personal reasons or holidays. I have also been trained in teaching English online and I am familiar with a range of digital tools that can make the lessons effective and interesting. This is ideal for students who want actively participate and speak more, learn new words and exercise the grammar.

All learning materials and exercises are included and will be provided during the lesson.

My name is Maja and I am a CELTA certified teacher holding a Bachelor's degree in English language and literature. I'm Isabel, a native English speaker from the UK, based in Spain! I am a patient, enthusiastic, passionate teacher with seven years of experience tutoring.

I started helping out at my secondary school and I was later recommended as a tutor by the school and went on to tutor children in differing subjects. Having always had a great passion for languages, Spanish and French have been my main focus when it comes to tutoring; helping many students prepare for their GCSE and A-Level exams with a variety of oral, listening, reading and writing-based classes.

In my gap-year, I worked towards a Trinity Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language, which gave me the necessary tools needed to prepare lessons that would be both dynamic and rewarding for my students.

In 2018 I spent 6 months in Paraguay teaching English at a local school. While this enabled me to achieve fluency in Spanish, my packed schedule with all ages and abilities meant it was essential to adapt my methods of teaching to accommodate each individual student’s needs. While studying for a Masters in Translation last year, for which I achieved a distinction, I also worked as a tutor at Pembroke Tutors, preparing students for MFL exams and also teaching English. I am currently located in Granada, where I tutor online and teach English to Spanish children.

Of course, teaching is always a very personalised task but I feel that my experience means I am able to quickly understand my students and their styles of learning.

I am a CELTA certified Teacher of English and I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism. I have a vast experience teaching General English, preparation for Cambridge exams-, pronunciation, speaking and developing writing skills.
