Hello there! My name is Phyllis Kasala and I must say I love teaching. The love for teaching and being a life-long learner found me at a tender age of 14, since then i knew it was my destiny to share my knowledge with the world. I have a bachelor's degree with the University of Pretoria and it is a very esteemed varsity i also went further and secured a Teaching English To Foreign Learners certificate (TEFL) which shows that not only do I want to learn, but I do not like limiting myself. English may be difficult to learn and understand to a person who has no clue about the language but, that's why you have me! I make sure that I teach in a relaxed and quiet environment where the learner feels safe and free to make mistakes because we all must remember making mistakes is a vital part of learning. I am currently on my journey to enroll into my honours which will be about researching how to teach learners with learning difficulties such as ADHD and much more. I cater for all learners be it visual learners, kinetic learners, auditory learners and verbal learners which basically means I cater for all, during my lessons. I make use of creative and colorful PowerPoints that have sound and easy gimmicks to help remember what you may have learnt on that specific day. So do not fret as we will walk this journey together. In 2008 I started working in an AUF member university and I’ve spend six years teaching general and professional French language skills to students and preparing them for DELF/DALF/TCF examinations.

Later I collaborated with several language schools working with children and adults and as a privat tutor.

I received my teaching certification in 2011 and I've been teaching ever since. I have experience working with students from all over the world, in language schools, kindergarten, exam preparation centers, and online, not only as a teacher but also as an education coordinator.

I offer my students a very structured program to help them improve their overall English level. In our trial lesson, I will evaluate your level and we will discuss your goals. I will then provide you with a coursebook and supplementary materials suitable for your level and needs. We will use these both together in class and outside of class for homework. We will cover all necessary skills (speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation) but we will give special attention to whatever your weaknesses may be.

I'm offering informal Dutch and English lessons based on conversation and will conduct my lessons for as much as possible in the target language.

I use text, weblinks to tv shows to get us talking and am a fan of the TPRS method.
There's a lot of information on that method online. Basically it's getting to know the structure Dutch and English through simple conversation. (questions about 1 or several sentences on any topic)

I have some useful weblinks to tv shows in Dutch (with subtitles in Dutch) adjusted to your level and the shows are entertaining too. :-)
We can discuss the shows preferably in the target language of course.

I can explain some grammar too if needed and have articles and books ready to read from. This again will be adjusted to your proficiency. But of course if you'd like to focus on a topic which has your interest that is possible as well. This makes it more personal and more fun.

I've been teaching for about a year now on another platform to students from all over the world and really enjoy having the experience again as I used to be a vocal coach back in the days when I attended conservatory in the Netherlands.
