Hi, I´m Nancy and I'm originally from Paraguay. I have a C2 level of English(proficient). I moved to the Netherlands over a year ago and my current level of Dutch is B1 (intermediate). I have over 12 years of experience teaching English to teenagers and adults at a language school. I currently work as a freelancer for a global provider of language training. I've taught General English as well as Medical and Business English one-on-one, to small and large groups. I have successfully trained students to take international English language testing exams such as the TOEFL. I also have over 4 years of experience teaching Spanish language and culture. If you want to learn Spanish or English to work, study or visit countries in which these beautiful languages are spoken, I might be the right teacher for you! I offer personalized lessons that are fun, interactive and based on what my students need and want to learn. I do so through a variety of activities to help you build your skills step by step; including role-playing (based on real-life situations), Q&As, games, among others. The objective is to keep you talking! Don’t worry about making mistakes; in fact, making mistakes and learning from them help you get better. Reviewing is an important part of my classes. I'm always going back and forth, checking if you still remember content introduced in previous classes.
Before we start our lessons, I need to know your reasons for learning either English or Spanish.. In case you already have some knowledge, I will need to determine what your exact level is. Once I find out about your needs, interests, and level, I will be able to select the right materials and design the right course for you.
We can either work with a textbook (plus extra-materials) or with my own teaching materials. I usually make use of videos, slides, worksheets, and other teaching resources.
We can use any platform of your choice, or if you live in or near Haarlem, Netherlands, we can even have classes face-to-face.

In recent years I have worked as an Academic Director at a Language School in northern Spain. My job duties there included designing intensive Spanish & English courses for beginners’, intermediate and advanced levels, as well as teaching both on-site and via Skype. This constant interest has allowed me to become familiar with techniques and tools that are essential in today´s second language learning, such as the materials used by the Cervantes Institute and the most renowned publications and blogs in the field of language teaching. Most particularly, I have made extensive use of audiovisuals and creative writing activities in order to develop consistent, effective courses. 

As an on-line teacher, I have steadily used different technology applications in language learning. My tasks as a teacher included setting homework and giving feedback to my students, according to their needs, on a regular basis, as well as keeping accurate register of their attendance and progress. 

Graduated in Hispanic Philology and Masters in Applied French, I have always kept up with my teaching training and have recently completed a Cambridge CELTA course for English teachers This further training has provided me with the familiarity to different teaching methodologies, which have proven to be extremely useful in my classes.

I'm offering informal Dutch and English lessons based on conversation and will conduct my lessons for as much as possible in the target language.

I use text, weblinks to tv shows to get us talking and am a fan of the TPRS method.
There's a lot of information on that method online. Basically it's getting to know the structure Dutch and English through simple conversation. (questions about 1 or several sentences on any topic)

I have some useful weblinks to tv shows in Dutch (with subtitles in Dutch) adjusted to your level and the shows are entertaining too. :-)
We can discuss the shows preferably in the target language of course.

I can explain some grammar too if needed and have articles and books ready to read from. This again will be adjusted to your proficiency. But of course if you'd like to focus on a topic which has your interest that is possible as well. This makes it more personal and more fun.

I've been teaching for about a year now on another platform to students from all over the world and really enjoy having the experience again as I used to be a vocal coach back in the days when I attended conservatory in the Netherlands.

I'll listen to your needs carefully and suit my teaching accordingly.
My aim is to help you learn for real. Surely, you need to improve your comprehension skills, but fluency has to be reached or ameliorated. Rhythmic contrast, intonation and pronunciation (IPA) should not be neglected because they are part of the language. I'll provide you with material, learning strategies and plenty of encouragement.

People who know me say that I'm respectful, competent and professional. This doesn't translate into a serious and boring method. To the contrary, I think learning should be interesting and enjoyable.

I've been teaching English for about 18 years. I work with students, professionals and companies. General or business English. I was born in Scotland, but then I lived in Italy and in the USA, where I graduated in 1993. I live in Italy at the moment. I've been carrying out projects for companies such as Sephora, Sma Supermercati, Corriere della Sera and Gazzetta dello Sport, GrandVision and Walt Disney, but I also enjoy teaching students and anybody who's interested in learning English or Italian.
