English teacher with 20 years experience

I have been working as a TEFL teacher for 20 years, mainly in Portugal and Spain, and I can teach general, academic, medical, technical and business English. I have experience of teaching all ages and levels but my area of expertise is preparation for Cambridge exams especially the B2 – C2 levels as I am a qualified Cambridge oral examiner for exam levels A2 - C2

As for my approach to teaching; I see myself as a resource to be used by the students to assist and encourage their autonomous learning. As well as course books, I like to use a variety of interesting topics and activities focusing on authentic, functional activities with an emphasis on learning to communicate through interaction in the target language so that students are more motivated and engaged and, also, they are likely to practise more. In addition, I find that using student’s own personal experiences are important as elements in in fluency-based activities to encourage and to develop their confidence.
