My experiences and status as a College Prep and AP English Literature teacher in China, Vietnam and in New York at Manhattan Hunter Science HS for more than eight years make me an ideal candidate for your English learning needs. I know that with my background and interest getting the most out of my students, in preparations for their university studies, I am the perfect ambassador for understanding not only the basics of English, but also cultural and historical contexts behind some of the world’s most fascinating texts, authors, and literary movements.
I have special dedications to the enrichment of young writers, critically deconstructing text of all genres and mediums in order to ascertain not only author’s intent, elements of persuasion, but also basic elements of literature, grammar and communication in the pursuits of enhancing and mastering speaking, listening and reading skills. I pride myself in utilizing several pedagogies; a multitude of teaching styles from Flipped and Student-led Classrooms, differentiated instruction and assessments [Tic-Tac-Toe], all of which help illicit the absolute most from my students’ varying learning styles.
I am prepared for this teaching position as, for more than 20 years I have been preparing students of all ages for the challenges of more rigorous academic research, presentations, collaboration, individual creative writing as well as holistic materials and methods which include implementing my “Plans for the Living” outlines; all helping youth to become self-advocates for more productive futures.
