I have been a teacher for more than 20 years. I am French and I studied English in France but also in England. I live in Indonesia.
I am really into adaptive teaching and innovative teaching methods using different new technologies and different skills. I create my own material and my purpose as a teacher is to adapt to my students and keep them motivated and eager to learn. I always choose subjects related to my students' background and environment, always in context and using as many authentic documents as I can. My teaching really goes beyond mere language learning but provides openness to different cultures (French but also English, American and Australian)
English and French are real passions for me and I love comparing and studying both languages through my readings and different language contacts. Teaching a language is loving it and understanding it perfectly. My advantage is to know both English and French and to be able to explain to non-French or non-English speakers how things work, make relevant comparisons when possible. French is my mother tongue but I studied English thoroughly and lived in the UK.
Now I am a teacher in an International school in Indonesia. I have been living here for nearly 5 years and I enjoy the opportunity to teach students from different backgrounds and different origins.
Getting back to my experience as a teacher, I would say my career has been so far characterised by diversity : diversity of schools, of year levels, of interests (from adults at the university to primary school children or again, disadvantaged students who did not really see the point in learning English while living in France, or again eager and learned students who aimed at entering prestigious universities). Throughout these experiences, I have learned how to evolve in my practices, to adapt to my students and their interests and to challenge my students in a very comprehensive and tolerant way.
