Hi there,
my name is Hester and live in Modimolle in the Limpopo Province of South Africa. I have been involved with language teaching in the form of Speech and Language Therapy for more than 20 years. During these 20 years I worked with clients from about 4 years old all the way up to in their nineties.
I thus have extensive experience of working one-to-one as well as with small groups. As a Speech and Language Therapist I am also used to tailor make sessions to my client's need. Importantly I realise that even with a PhD, I don't know everything and I am quite sure that I will learn at least one thing from each and every student. As Michel Legrand said: "The more I live, the more I learn. The more I learn, the more I realize, the less I know."
As for my teaching methods, I am very flexible: if you want a formal grammar lesson, I can give you that. If you want us to sing; we can sing ... just remember that I am a language teacher and not the winner of The Voice South Africa, for a reason. We can use topics you are interested in and incorporate that. We can talk about animals, great outdoors, books, movies, ruby, cricket, F1 racing and why Ayrton Senna was the best, or maybe Schummie was? We can talk about our respective countries and cultures. We can be fun or stern, just what you need.
As for materials, I can and have developed my own materials, but we can also use prescribed materials you need to work through or textbooks, all depending on your level and needs.
Please join me for a free first lesson and if you are not happy - there is a bunch of other great teachers you can choose from.
Hope to see you soon!
