Hello there,
I have been teaching English for more than 20 years as a private teacher in my country, and as an online teacher for 3 years now. My major is law, but I started studying English because I realized that I prefer doing that job than law. I fell in love with English when I was a child and I thought that I could use it in other professions, but I cannot teach and meet interesting people, listen to their humor, follow their success, laugh at our jokes, listen to amazing stories.
In respect to my teaching methods, I focus on sound and speaking, because pictures can distract students attention and, in my experience, sound is crucial because the student can hear and pronounce the words correctly and can repeat multiple times the words that has problems to pronounce, can make self-corrections and can speak loudly and clearly in order to hear oneself better. By writing texts, doing exercises that require writing the student does three very important things: learns how to write, reads what written and listens oneself in order to practice pronunciation. Homework is very important and it usually consists of re-writing the text, doing exercises, mostly answering questions related to the material or grammar drills and reading, so the student should use all these actions to speak with self confidence.
I used Oxford University Press, the material that certain school provided, usually in power point, free talk, Headway, Macmillan, Gateway. The classes are usually customized and adapted to students needs.
