Hello!, my name is Luyanda but you can call me Teacher Lulu. I currently reside in South Africa, Mpumalanga. I have 2 qualifications, one is a... Bachelor of Arts, the second one is a Postgraduate Certificate in Education where I majored in English Home Language and Economics. I also have a 120-hours TFEL certificate which certifies me to teach English as a Foreign Language to different people around the world. My teaching style is a more learner centred teaching method which focuses more on the learners’ needs. I completed my 160 hour accredited TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) course in 2019 through TEFL Fullcircle. My TEFL course includes a 40 hour TEYL (Teaching English to Young Learners) certificate. I recently left my job as a fulltime teacher to pursue my love for teaching online, meeting new people and learn about different cultures. Apart from teaching and volunteering as a teachers assistant, I also offer private tutoring services to students that may be needing help for exam preparation, homework, projects etc. When it comes to my teaching, I use the first lesson/trail lesson to get to know my students goals, their learning preferences and the best method to teach them. I enjoy using the English Placement test to see at what level my students are at, so that I able to set lessons and homework accordingly. I try my best to make my lessons as interesting and as memorable as possible so that students enjoy learning and see it as a positive activity rather than a punishment. Every student is an individual and therefore has different ways of learning or understanding the task at hand. I enjoy using color in most of my learning materials especially for young learners as it instantly grabs their attention. To keep things fun and to keep the attention of my students I offer a reward system that will lead to a fun game or story lesson. Flashcards are a great way to test students once they have learned a new concept too. I sometimes type my own lessons up and send the to the students to complete so that I am able to assist them and see what need to be reviewed. I have the utmost patience for all students of all different learning capabilities. I listening to a students wants and needs and give them the respect that they desire. My Job description was babysitting, au pairing kids, tutoring English and helping kids with their homework.
