My name is Laura and I am a freelance Italian teacher and translator based in Berlin.
I come from Bari - a small town in southern Italy - where I graduated in foreign languages and literature before coming to Berlin four years ago.
As a linguist and lover of the Italian language, I immediately tried teaching Italian, and I can definitely say that it was a successful idea :)

Me and my student we´ll deal with different kind of communicative situations and I´ll give them the opportunity to talk as much as he can in order to have the closest approach to the language.
During my years of teaching I noticed how often some linguistic skills are trained more than others/are preferred over others, giving less space to first and closest linguistic experience that certainly occurs with the speaking. This is the reason why my teaching method wanted to experience a change of course, that focused exactly on the student´s ability of speaking till the final analyze of the conversation from a lexical and grammatical point of view.

For the basic levels we start from the very first forms of conversation and speaking exercise, such as self presentation, describing an object or talking about one's hobbies or favourite book, with the grammar and vocabulary involved.

Once the student acquires a primary familiarity with the language, I´d let the student keep training with more speaking exercises, first with communicative situations in which we come across daily like ordering something in a bar, asking for directions or organizing a weekend out ´til he/she´ll able to express his/her opinion and to have pure and free conversation on various topics, such as nature, technology, the academic and working world, telling about his/her travels or even on actual world news.

On request I can even provide material on our funny dialectal forms, different from region to region :)

Ciao! My name is Giorgio, I live few kilometers away from Rome and I am a native speaking Italian tutor, certified with the DITALS Level II (Università per Stranieri di Siena).
Words, their amazing mixture of sounds and ideas, have enchanted me for as long as I can remember, along with their multiple expressive nuances and communicative potential. In my work I aim to teach a language that is authentic and functional to deal with the most common communicative situations for those who travel or live in Italy. How? Firstly, I only speak Italian during classes, since the beginner’s level, and I pay constant attention to pragmatic and intercultural aspects of communication. Secondly, I use all kinds of supports and I gradually introduce more complex structures and specific uses. The choice of the topics is based on the interests and needs of each student. Language is always a mean to convey culture and many people approach Italian driven by curiosity for Italian food, music, fashion, literature, lifestyle, cinema. These all are regular topics of my classes, through which I try to convey a multifaceted image of my country. I have a true passion for metalinguistic reflection and I am happy to answer to students’ questions, but I generally prefer guiding them to the autonomous discovery of grammar rules, through an inductive process. I am very patient and I always try to establish a positive environment, where errors are chances to learn and not something to be ashamed of. I believe in the importance of promoting students’ responsibility in their learning process, stimulating their commitment and valuing their learning styles. Fun and gratification are a more powerful drive than mere obligation.
I provide texts and materials to work on in class and to revise at home. In order to reach the best results in all the communicative skills, I always enrich my classes with visual support, listening activities, videos, games.

I can offer to teach Tagalog And English language. Method of my teaching for Filipino language should start by learning the Filipino alphabet . Material for teaching is books or textbook. I don't have an educational degree but I've experienced teaching and explaining certain things in a company that I worked before, just like a speaker and lecturer. That's why I like to teach and speak in public whether it's only one or in numbers . I also love talking with different kinds of people's races and culture, and at the same time, I also learn from them while I'm teaching.
