My lessons are based on conversations. My method is to help you practice the language from the very beginning in spontaneous and direct conversations, using often role plays.

With books, articles, songs, and other interesting and stimulating material I will encourage conversation, develop grammar in a simpler way, and improve pronunciation.

Hello everyone! My name is Javier and I have been teaching Spanish as a foreign language for more than 10 years. In addition to being a graduate (in philosophy and literature), I have the certificate of pedagogical aptitude from the Spanish Ministry of Education and I am certified by the Cervantes Institute as a Spanish teacher. Hello there! My name is Phyllis Kasala and I must say I love teaching. The love for teaching and being a life-long learner found me at a tender age of 14, since then i knew it was my destiny to share my knowledge with the world. I have a bachelor's degree with the University of Pretoria and it is a very esteemed varsity i also went further and secured a Teaching English To Foreign Learners certificate (TEFL) which shows that not only do I want to learn, but I do not like limiting myself. English may be difficult to learn and understand to a person who has no clue about the language but, that's why you have me! I make sure that I teach in a relaxed and quiet environment where the learner feels safe and free to make mistakes because we all must remember making mistakes is a vital part of learning. I am currently on my journey to enroll into my honours which will be about researching how to teach learners with learning difficulties such as ADHD and much more. I cater for all learners be it visual learners, kinetic learners, auditory learners and verbal learners which basically means I cater for all, during my lessons. I make use of creative and colorful PowerPoints that have sound and easy gimmicks to help remember what you may have learnt on that specific day. So do not fret as we will walk this journey together. Just remember I am close friends with all the letters in the English alphabet and I don't know "y" (just a joke to cheer you up)!

My name is Laura and I am a freelance Italian teacher and translator based in Berlin.
I come from Bari - a small town in southern Italy - where I graduated in foreign languages and literature before coming to Berlin four years ago.
As a linguist and lover of the Italian language, I immediately tried teaching Italian, and I can definitely say that it was a successful idea :)

Me and my student we´ll deal with different kind of communicative situations and I´ll give them the opportunity to talk as much as he can in order to have the closest approach to the language.
During my years of teaching I noticed how often some linguistic skills are trained more than others/are preferred over others, giving less space to first and closest linguistic experience that certainly occurs with the speaking. This is the reason why my teaching method wanted to experience a change of course, that focused exactly on the student´s ability of speaking till the final analyze of the conversation from a lexical and grammatical point of view.

For the basic levels we start from the very first forms of conversation and speaking exercise, such as self presentation, describing an object or talking about one's hobbies or favourite book, with the grammar and vocabulary involved.

Once the student acquires a primary familiarity with the language, I´d let the student keep training with more speaking exercises, first with communicative situations in which we come across daily like ordering something in a bar, asking for directions or organizing a weekend out ´til he/she´ll able to express his/her opinion and to have pure and free conversation on various topics, such as nature, technology, the academic and working world, telling about his/her travels or even on actual world news.

On request I can even provide material on our funny dialectal forms, different from region to region :)

My name is Cassiano. I'm from Brazil, more precisely from Rio de Janeiro. In my country, I was a biology and science teacher. I am currently a Masters student at the University of Porto and I have lived in Germany for 7 years where I learned the German language. I am a language lecturer at the Fulda University of Applied Sciences. I teach Portuguese as a foreign language there. Here we not only learn Portuguese with books and grammar, but also get to know Brazil and Portugal with all their culture, art and music.
