2006 was the year I entered the ESL Industry where I primarily taught Koreans and Japanese at a language institute. Filipino and English are intuitive to me as the former is my mother tongue and employed outside of school, while the latter was compulsorily spoken inside of campus. The first five-year stint had me undergo batches of trainings in different areas of English, made me deliver graded demos which I had to pass, and gave me a role in training new hires with their accent. Later, in 2014, I ventured into the online world of teaching, this time with Chinese and Taiwanese added to the list of nationalities I teach. Teaching ESL has been my bread and butter for 14years now. So, all things considered, I'm confident to say that I'm well-grounded in this industry.
Based on my students' feedback, I am particularly straight-shooting, but jolly, humorous and approachable. I have built a great deal of friendships with students all throughout my ESL career.

My lesson with Mahdi was great. The speed and quality at which he adapted to my linguistic requirements was astounding. We worked through some of his original teaching material, which were always spot on to my level. And fun - he makes ample use of jokes and asks his students not only to "understand" them, but also uses them to elicit an impromptu analysis by the student of "why this was funny". This holds true as well for exercises in picture analysis and exercises in hearing. Mahdi gives enough room to experiment with the language in the "free talk" section and writes his comments and corrections live. Every single one of his written or spoken comments are invaluable to either clarify aspects of grammar or prompt his students to talk. Mahdi switches consistently and comprehensively through the different phases of a lesson without ever cutting one phase short or lingering too long -- proof of his experience and hundreds of lessons taught. He has an exceptional knowledge of Persian grammar which he however breaks down to a level his students can understand. His knowledge and his application of modern teaching methodology is impeccaple. He has also pointed me to several online resources to improve my learning experience. I'm looking forward to continuing my journey to Persian B2 and onwards with Mahdi.

I was born in İstanbul and I lived there. I hold a bachelor degree in cinema and television at İstanbul Şehir University. During my university years, my stories have been published in major Turkish literary magazines. After my graduation I have been specializing in children's book illustration and literature. I founded children's book publishing house in Turkey. The name is Yıldız Tozu Publishing and my books were released. I worked as an editor-in-chief in the company. I have been following lessons with Esra on and off for six months now and sometimes we have communication problems because we have to speak in English and that isn't the native language for the both of us. Having said this. She is a fun teacher and we laugh a lot but I also must admit that she is strict with the time table, starting at 8 o'clock means starting at 8, ending at 9 means.... Other than that, when I have questions I can ask anytime and she will reply and if the question isn't to complicated I get an fairly quick answer, if it gets more complicated than the answer will be treated in the next lesson. Would I recommend Esra hanim. Yes! And I would like to add, she is a good teacher and she has a lot of patience and repeats the things I should know because it was in a previous lesson and I stupidtly enough forgot about it (Turkish isn't an easy language...)
