First and foremost, I want to start with one of my favourite quotation from Richard Henry Dana(!) (I'm not sure whether this quotation belongs to him or not, but I liked it. :) “He who dares to teach must never cease to learn.” First of all, we as teachers must improve ourselves about everything such as cultural knowledge, technology, best seller books new novels etc. We should keep up with the times and try to understand our students.
Then we should know students’ interests, needs, backgrounds and their level of English / Turkish. If we know the aforementioned things, it would be easier for us to decide what kind of materials we can use to attract their attention. Also, one of the key points is that we should motivate the students to learn. As teachers we should teach our students why they learn language/grammar/vocabulary etc. rather than just memorization. Regarding teaching methods we can use student-centered methods. We should use examples from real life so they can broaden students’ knowledge. Also using examples from real life, help students to internalize the examples. I strongly believe that we should make our students acquire the language from all aspects including reading, listening, writing, and speaking.
All in all, as a teacher we have lots of things to do. One of our most important responsibilities’ is to help students to understand that they have enough power and capacity to learn a language if they are determined enough....

I hold a bachelor's degree and a Master's degree in Germanic Studies obtained at the University of Yaoundé 1 .I also hold a DIPES II (Secondary Teacher Diploma) ) in German obtained at the Higher Teacher Training College of Yaounde. I also hold two French Teaching Certificates. Moreover, I was trained as professional translator in ASTI (Advanced School of Translators and Interpreters) at the University of Buea and my language combinations are English to French and German to French. There are several teaching methods that I combine with three approaches. While teaching, I help the learner to use the language to perform tasks; this is the action-oriented- approach. Furthermore, I encourage the learner to express himself /herself a lot, especially orally, because the aim is to learn the language and to use it in a specific communicative situation. This is the communicative approach. Finally, I like the cultural approach. I help the learner to discover cultural elements, since language and cultures are linked.

My name is Kilian, I am 29 years old and I am a Spanish guy from Canary Islands.

A year ago I graduated in Spanish Language at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and I also finished the course that accredits me as a DELE examiner for levels B1 and B2 by the Instituto Cervantes. After studying abroad for six months (Czech Republic) I knew that I wanted to dedicate myself to teaching Spanish as a foreign language, so here I am!

Of course, my mother tongue is Spanish, but I also have an intermediate level of English which can be very useful to solve some doubts that may arise during the classes.
