I am a PhD holder in German studies from the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany, and I have been teaching German and the subjects related... to German language, culture and literature for more than 20 years. At the same time, I led intensive German courses (DaF) for students who started with German from scratch and needed to be prepared for their studies in Germany. I started teaching during my studies at university. Most of the jobs I was given back then involved working with teenagers and adults. It was a challenge for me but I loved it! Later on, I spent 16 years in Southeast Asia, where I worked at various universities and gained enormous experience in working with multiethnic and multicultural groups. Apart from that, I also had the opportunity to participate in the development of study programs. In addition to German, I communicate in English, Czech, Russian and I speak a tiny bit of Malay. We all are different learners and we shall find the most suitable way for ourselves! At the beginning of my teaching career, I considered being a non-native German speaker as my weakness. However, growing experience in teaching and co-working with German mother tongue speakers, I realized that it is actually my strength. I went through the whole process of learning German from zero to the highest level, which included all sorts of fun, confusions and frustrations. Loris is a great teacher! He is patient, knowledgeable and has a great structure to teach the Turkish language. He has a plan from lesson one, he detailed the process to me before we began and gave me a background explanation of the origins of Turkish and where it can be found. I was very nervous and apprehensive about learning a new language, especially Turkish. Loris put me at ease from the very beginning and made learning easier than I expected! It wasn't overwhelming and the practice homework was not excessive but enjoyable. I was able to learn new words and put them into practice from the first lesson. I look forward to our meetings and I don't feel exhausted after the lessons. This is very important to me when learning not just a language but really learning anything! I have been living in Turkey for almost 2 years and I thought I could "get by" without learning Turkish, ever since I started my lessons with Loris, it has opened up a whole new world here in Turkey! Now I only regret that I didn't start learning earlier. Had I known how enjoyable it would be I would have started earlier! Hi! I’m Yasmina, a professional German, English, Russian and Slovak teacher for adults and teenagers. I am fluent in 4 foreign languages and I have sucessfuly passed C2 level exams for English and German. I have a Masters degree in foreign languages and cultures from Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia. During my studies I have done a couple of exchanges abroad (Germany, Belgium, Portugal, Italy, Qatar, Iceland, etc).
I have lived in 4 countries, therefore I know how challenging it may be - to learn and SPEAK foreign language afterwards.
