My name is Dennis, I am 27 years and I am from Peru. I have been teaching English for 6 years and teaching Spanish for one year as well. I have studied at the university, I am about to finish and get my degree. I am specializing in teaching kids with some disabilities, actually, my first experience was when I was 17 was teaching English to kids with disabilities. At that moment, I told myself "I really want to be a teacher".

I am very organized, responsible, and honest. I strongly believe that these three characteristics a teacher, a good teacher must have. I like to be updated, that is why I am always searching for new techniques, strategies, activities, etc. on the web to make my teaching more enjoyable and dynamic. From my point of view, that is extremely important now that technology is growing and it seems is going to enhance even more.

I learned to be careful when teaching kids and all students in general, because you, as a teacher, are like a model for them. If any word is misunderstood or they are not responding, the class will be a mess. I mean as a teacher, we need to adapt to the student: their learning style and their needs.

I’m equipped with the Total Physical Response and The Communicative Method, these gave me results with kids and adults and no matter what level they are. I apply these methods in the classroom through interactive, student-centered activities that maximize “student talking time.” My lessons include pair and group work, and if it is one-to-one I pretend to be a student, that really works with children. Moreover, I study theather so I tend to create a character in every class.

Finally, I understand the stress some students have when learning a new language. In my classes, I typically set five to ten minutes at the start of each class for students to relax and motivate doing games and dynamics just with the purpose of having them comfortable and confident. I aim to support students’ social-emotional well-being as they learn English and deepen their global awareness.
