I have a PhD in comparative literature from the University of Texas at Austin. I have years of experience teaching language and literature courses at the university level. Additionally, I have experience teaching ESL through literature to middle school and high school students online and I am TEFL certified. I believe that language learning is important and that to do so you need to find a "hook" into the language. To that end I like to use to multiple forms of culture from the target language such as film, literature, art, photos, games and music to teach grammar, vocabulary, sentence structure and other essentials of the language. Learning a new language is challenging, but I also believe that it should be fun. By engaging different types of learners with different and enjoyable learning activities, the process of learning a language can be enjoyable and rewarding.
