I have come a long way, trying a bit of this and a bit of that, getting to know myself through the experience of teaching and sharing.
I have a degree in English and German teaching and 15 years ago I shyly started my career as a teacher and educator. Though I am specialized in teenagers, I soon discovered that I was very good with children and that they fed my creativity and vice-versa.
Teaching is creating: creating routines, structures, games, activities and new ways of thinking. To become a teacher, you need to be willing to learn on a daily basis. You need to be ready to be transformed. There is no magical fórmula, hence you need to reinvent yourself continuously.
I have worked with all ages and levels including preparation for the official Cambridge exams. I know how to adapt and make tailor-made classes to suit one's needs.
My method? My experience. 15 years shows that trial and error, adaptation, stepping out of your comfort zone, understanding needs and personal traits are key to engage, motivate students and drive them to success.
I use textbooks, but I also create my own materials, especially when working with adults (with very specific professional needs) and children.
For the younger ones, I use puppetry and storytelling. They simply adore It!
