Hello everybody,
My name is Malcolm Doherty and I am a native English speaker from the Republic of Ireland. I have over six years of teaching experience in South Korea, Ireland and Hungary. I am a TEFL (120 Hours) and CELTA graduate and I hold a postgraduate qualification in Law from The College of Law Chester. My voluntary and paid work as an English teacher has given me considerable experience in teaching a wide range of learners. It is a job I enjoy very much, and I always try to combine my passion for teaching with professionalism. I believe I have the ability to help you in whatever English goal you are hoping to achieve.
I have most recently been teaching General English, Exam Preparation and Business English with Berlitz Dublin, previously Kaplan International. I have also gained experience teaching in Budapest. In this position my main focus was teaching/coaching Business English to Adults and Companies in small groups and one-to-one classes. These lessons focused on fluency, communication, job interview preparation and other relevant business topics. I have also gained further experience of teaching General English to Adults and Young Learners. Previous to this I had been a teacher in EIE private school, South Korea where I had taught children from Grade 1 Elementary through to High School.
I have acquired valuable experience, which I believe would be very beneficial as a teacher. In addition, I use motivational skills effectively towards my teaching and work well in both team-oriented and independent settings. I am a compassionate and adaptable teacher who is sensitive to student’s unique needs. I always aim to prepare suitable, stimulating lesson plans that facilitate all learning styles. Apart from my skills as teacher I am a sociable person who has a natural ability in talking to and building relationships with all kinds of people. In my free time, I enjoy a wide range of interests, from writing, reading, sports, art, music, hiking and current affairs.
I look forward to being a part of your English journey. I hope to hear from you soon.
Have a wonderful day.
Malcolm
