I have a degree in English and I have been teaching English for 6 consecutive years.
I find teaching English gratifying and thoroughly enjoyable, and it gives me immense joy to see people I teach improve in their written and spoken English.
My specialties are phonics, grammar, vocabulary, public speaking, conversational English and writing. But I can teach other aspects of English too.

Even though I have been teaching professionally for 6 years, I decided to enroll in a TEFL course to enable me broaden my horizon.
It's an online course and it's still ongoing, but nonetheless, I can teach effectively without a TEFL certification because I have amassed sufficient experience.

It was a worthwhile experience. I was in charge of the senior class and I was saddled with the responsibility of preparing the students for their final exams.
The students were very eager to learn and that was a motivating factor for me.

My brief stint as a teacher in this school opened my eyes to a lot of things. I experienced first-hand the rot in the educational system in the northern part of my country.
It was really difficult because most of the students shouldn't have been in the classes they were. They were promoted to the next class without passing the necessary exams. The students had little or no deal to learn because their religion, Islam, forbids them from learning a European language.

Teaching in this school was particularly challenging for me because it was an all-girls boarding school and they were more interested in boys than they were in learning.
I had to use every trick in the book to make them more enthusiastic about education. It paid off eventually.
