Hello - My name is Whitney, I am from the beautiful city of Cape Town, South Africa. I am a second-year university student; I am majoring in English and Social Work.

I am a native speaker, I am South African so I don’t have an American or British accent but I was schooled in British English. I spell and pronounce words the British way but I'm able to adjust my spelling and grammar rules to American English if that is what you are looking for.

As you read I am majoring in English and Social work at university - I enjoy my social work modules as I'm able to learn about the child's and social development which is so crucial for me as there are so many children in the world who live in negative environments so I have been enjoying learning about child care - I enjoy the English modules so much too because I love literature and everything so it’s so much fun.

I have a teaching English as a second language certificate which means I am qualified to teach English as a second language. In South Africa, we have 11 official languages and I speak 2 of those official languages, I am also learning American sign language so I know how hard it is to learn a foreign language but I promise that with your dedication and my passion, you will be the best English speaker you can be.

I’ve had a private tutoring business for the past 3 years so I have experience with tutoring and I feel confident that with my knowledge and experience that I will be able to help you become incredibly good at speaking, reading, and writing English.

What can I do for you?

I am here to assist you with reading, writing, and speaking skills. I am available to do conversational lessons as well, these kinds of lessons are my favourite because I get to learn so much about my students’ interests and they even teach me some interesting things too.

My teaching style is relaxed so don’t feel nervous about learning with me, we’re in this together. I have so many different methods of teaching; I love using my students’ favourite television shows or favourite songs to teach them new things.
