Awesome English Teacher

Hello! My name is Lissy. I'm 28 years old and I am originally from Davao City, Philippines. I currently live in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. I graduated from college in 2012 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management from Ateneo de Davao University. I’m an HR Professional for 8 years and I also teach English to kids in China, part-time, online.

I’m an adventurous person and I like learning new things. That’s why I love traveling so much. I have been to 21 countries so far. 11 in Europe and 10 in Asia. I love swimming, martial arts, video editing, and cooking.

I also have 120 hours TEFL Certificate. I am a fun, active, encouraging and supportive teacher to all of my students. I make sure that all of them are comfortable speaking in English. My specialization is oral communication skills, such as daily conversation exercises and free talking practices. I usually make my own lessons depending on my student’s level and needs. But I can also provide materials for our class.

I always give my students enough chance to speak up so that they may develop their confidence in speaking and at the same time I get to correct them immediately. I make sure that they repeat the corrections because practice is very important in learning effectively. I also believe that teaching is listening and learning is talking. I mean, students need to find someone whom they can practice with so that eventually, their English will become more natural and more communicative.

I think you can’t learn English by yourself because you always need a speaking partner. That’s why I’m here. That way they can become a user of English rather than just a learner of English. In my class, it’s okay to make mistakes because it’s my job to correct them. And their part is to apply the corrections to keep practicing and to keep learning.
