About me Ciao! My name is Andrea and I am a native Italian with years of Italian language teaching experience, graduated from University of... Rome. I lived in London and Los Angeles for several years. Then I attended courses for teaching Italian as a second language. I have been teaching Italian language to foreigners for 4 years and it has been very satisfying so far. Qualifications & Experience Since I was attending primary school until I graduated from University I have always studied both Italian and English languages. After University I continued my studies attending courses for becoming a professional teacher of Italian as a foreign language and then started to work as a teacher abroad in London and LA. My students are the first to show me gratitude for the good results and improvements they achieve attending the course. They tell me enthusiastically about the successes achieved both at work and in private-daily life by learning the Italian language with me. Teaching Approach I always try to understand what kind of student I have in front of me, where he/she comes from and his/her age. The way I teach to kids is different than the way I use to teach to adults. I always try to meet the student's needs, guiding him/her gently. If the student needs to know more grammar I start my lessons teaching more rules, following a Structural approach: this means that I would start teaching the language as a complex of grammatical rules which are to be learned one at a time in a set order. Along with that it is possible to do some grammar translations to and from the target language and to practice some Audio - Lingual method (learning through the practice of dialogues of every situations). Only after all this I push the student towards a Direct method, that means that it is possible only to use the target language: the teacher explains everything using the target language only and the learner is not allowed to use his or her mother tongue. When the student starts to speak fluently I like to focus more on the pronunciation, about the way he/she sounds practising with the student more conversation, analyzing his/her fluency, mental blocks or mispronunciation. In the first lesson I try to get an impression of the students, their attitude, cognitive style, needs, level of exposure to the language, motivation etc. I try an inductive - conversational approach first, I plan every lesson and I provide the student with a Google Drive file, anticipating contents and activities.Mostly I tend to work on what it's best for the students (ex. some of them prefer learning tables with grammar rules, verbs etc by heart, I make them understand that this is not considered the fastest nor most efficient way generally, but if it works for them I encourage it). I always try to make them capable of learn by their own and I want them to see me as a facilitator, a guide, not "the person who owns the knowledge". I keep my students focused by constantly stimulating them, asking questions, asking them to share thoughts and formulate hypotheses. Also I always provide explanations for what I do, why I do it in a certain way and at a certain time. I also use a manual. I often propose topics related to intercultural themes, news, environment, LGBT+ but also tv series, movies and so on, I discuss with students what they'd like to work on and I find or create from scratch activities for them. Hi, I am an Italian-German native speaker who grew up in Italy and has been living in Germany for more than 6 years. I have been teaching... Italian for about 5 years and have experience with both beginners and advanced students. As a German teacher, I have gained experience mainly as a tandem partner and tutor. Furthermore, in order to be able to study in Germany, I had to take the DSH exam and thus intensively deepen my knowledge of German grammar. I think that the best way to learn a language is to talk, talk, talk! That's why my lessons focus mainly on communication. However, I also use a lot of grammar and comprehension exercises to deepen, understand and consolidate the vocabulary and basic rules of the language. If you already have a book, we can use it, otherwise I have worksheets for each level. If there is an area (writing, listening, culture, etc.) in which you would like to practise more, that's no problem. We can talk about the details together in the trial lesson and determine your personal focus.
