Conversation classes with a native and verified teacher
Exam preparation with online classes and lessons from a certified teacher: Italian - CILS
Ciao a tutti! My name is Laura and I am a freelance Italian teacher and translator based in Berlin. I come from Bari - a small town in... southern Italy - where I graduated in foreign languages and literature before coming to Berlin four years ago. As a linguist and lover of the Italian language, I immediately tried teaching Italian, and I can definitely say that it was a successful idea :) Me and my student we´ll deal with different kind of communicative situations and I´ll give them the opportunity to talk as much as he can in order to have the closest approach to the language. During my years of teaching I noticed how often some linguistic skills are trained more than others/are preferred over others, giving less space to first and closest linguistic experience that certainly occurs with the speaking. This is the reason why my teaching method wanted to experience a change of course, that focused exactly on the student´s ability of speaking till the final analyze of the conversation from a lexical and grammatical point of view. For the basic levels we start from the very first forms of conversation and speaking exercise, such as self presentation, describing an object or talking about one's hobbies or favourite book, with the grammar and vocabulary involved. Once the student acquires a primary familiarity with the language, I´d let the student keep training with more speaking exercises, first with communicative situations in which we come across daily like ordering something in a bar, asking for directions or organizing a weekend out ´til he/she´ll able to express his/her opinion and to have pure and free conversation on various topics, such as nature, technology, the academic and working world, telling about his/her travels or even on actual world news. On request I can even provide material on our funny dialectal forms, different from region to region :) I´d be happy to support you in this learning challenge. Hope to hear back from you soon! Sincerely, Laura Read more

Hello, my name is Gabriele. I live in Novara, nearby Milan, in Northern Italy. In my life, I lived in Germany, Ireland and China. I speak... fluently English, Spanish, German and Chinese. I worked as an Italian teacher in China for two years, and it was there where I discovered my passion for teaching my language and my culture. I am qualified to teach Italian. I have a Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, plus Italian teaching certificates CEDILS and CELI (for examiners). After the pandemic I started working online, I have been doing it for more than a year and I love it. I try to get my students to talk a lot in my class and to learn language through culture. I think one can't learn a language without learning its culture. I can prepare materials according to my students needs. You need a class about the past tense? You got it. You need a class to practise your speaking for a certain certificate? You got it. You need a class about Italian Opera? You got it. You need a class about Italian proverbs? You got it. And so on. :) I am looking forward to meeting you! :) Read more

Professional Synopsis I have always been inspired by a great passion for teaching languages and learning about different cultures. I started... studying English when I was a child, first at school, together with French language, then at university and abroad during my study holidays. I studied not only British and American English at university in Rome, but also French and Spanish. I taught English for the first time to Italian students when I was at university and then I gained experience also with adults. I help adults if they need translations of texts and theses or support in the preparation of exams, papers and theses and in their business. I tutored students in view of exams, taught intensive English courses and gave one on one grammar and conversational lessons. I have also experience as a translator and interpreter as I worked in multinational companies like Finmeccanica and Oracle. I’m a registered journalist with over 15 years of experience. I always say to my students: “If you study languages you’ll be very happy when you visit foreign countries and realize that you understand what people say and local people understand what you are looking for!” Education DEGREE IN MODERN FOREIGN LANGUAGES AND LITERATURE (English, French, Spanish) – Università degli studi Roma Tor Vergata MASTER IN HUMAN RESOURCES – Irisform, Rome Study holidays in summer in the cities of Paris, Geneva, London, Sheffield, Dublin, Valencia Read more

I am not an improvised teacher, but I can improvise. PERSONAL STATEMENT I simply love foreign languages and cultures! In my career I have... studied English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German and Russian. Though only for a month, it still counts! I am fluent in English and almost there in Spanish. I have good command of Portuguese and can get away with French and German. So, if you are a beginner in English or Italian I can help you in your mother tongue (if it's one of those mentioned above, obviously). I have an Italian and an international teaching licences and 10 years' experience teaching English. METHODS(+experience) My teaching methods change according to the students. In classes of teenagers and adults I prefer using the inductive method, that is to say presenting the students with texts and have them discover the structure of the language. That is a great way for students to easily remember how the language works. It is considered the best method nowadays, still it is not the best in all circumstances. I have studied languages for a loooong time and I know what I want as a student. In 1 to 1 classes or in classes with few students it will be possible to adapt to the students' needs. I have a degree in foreign languages and literatures. I studied Spanish literature (of Spain) and postcolonial literature in English, so I can help you with that too. I have experience in teaching the Trinity and Cambridge exams and myself took the TOEFL, IELTS and Trinity. And I am planning to take the DELE C1 in June. Finally, I have a certificate in teaching Italian as a foreign language. MATERIALS Anything! In class I use the textbook to remain on track but I like my students to experience the culture of the language they are studying directly thorough the so-called authentic materials: songs, literature (novels, plays, poems, etc.), articles, films, social media...anything, I said!
