I am a qualified Italian native teacher with 7 years experience as a second language teacher. I lived and worked in Spain and recently in Italy... teaching groups and 1:1 to bilingual students (spanish/basque) but I have previous experience with english and french L1 students at every level. I offer costumed-tailored lessons according to your level and goals. I am happy to discuss your needs before you commit to the course. During the week I send you material such as articles and videos and depending on your level we will work on grammar, vocabulary or speaking based on what I sent you. At the end of the class you will receive a sheet with the most relevant grammar topic and vocabulary met in class and your mistakes with corrections in order to keep track of your improvement and make it easier for you to review what was important in each class. Ciao!! My name is Silvia and I am an Italian Linguist. I was born and brought up in Italy in the beautiful island of Sardinia and from a very... young age my biggest dream was travelling the world, meeting new people, learning new languages and cultures. At the age of sixteen I moved to the States with an exchange student programme and lived there for a whole year. After achieving an American High school diploma I went on a coast to coast trip and got caught by the travel bug. After a BAhons in Foreign Languages and Literature at the University of Cagliari, a scholarship in Aarhus, Denmark and a brief stay in Germany, I took what was meant to be a year break to travel while working in the airline industry. However, 12 years later I was still living the dream of discovering new parts of the world while working as a flight attendant. I travelled widely across Europe first and then across the rest of the world experiencing first-hand how your culture, traditions, lifestyle, habits that you learn from the people you live and interact with, determine the nature of the way you think, and also shapes the way you talk. I therefore decided to embark on a new adventure and started a MSc degree in Scientific, Medical and Technical Translations with Translation Technology at The Imperial College in London. This was an amazing journey that strengthen my passion for languages and my belief that bilingualism especially from a young age is very important in enhancing and developing cognitive ability. I am now married, my husband is also Italian and perfectly bilingual. I have two children who are also being brought up bilingual. As a mum now but also as a linguist, language tutor, interpreter and translator, I truly believe that the best way of learning a language is through passion, immersion and a positive spirit! I have studied all the major teaching methods and styles and as a language tutor I always seek to understand individual needs and objectives. I value the importance of my students' personal experience and knowledge and I believe live and personalised communication is at the base of my teaching style: a communicative and TPR approach. Language learning comes through communicating real meaning and interaction. To effectively achieve this, during my sessions all types of resources , from games to music, textbooks, videos and audio tracks and much more are utilised in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Hi everyone!! I am Stefania, an enthusiastic and curious 33-year-old Language Teacher who lives in Bologna. I adore travelling, cooking and... getting to know new people, languages and cultures. I am a passionate and charismatic communicator who really enjoys storytelling and sharing. I would define my teaching philosophy to be personalised, interactive and based on posing questions and fostering critical thinking rather than on giving answers in the first place. I believe in the importance of repetition and focus on all 4 areas of competence, for example choosing a subject and adressing it through listenings, writing of texts, readings, speaking activities (role plays & simulations) so that the vocabulary and language structures can be dealt with under different perspectives and repeated / practiced and corrected enough to be memorised in authentic contexts. The use of visuals (images, colors, video etc.), games, mind maps and summary tables can also extremely helpful. Last but not least, I will concentrate on specific requests, needs, strenghts, weaknesses etc. and we will be able to define specific objectives together while having a precise idea of how long it will take to reach our goals.
