I attended a Foreign Language High School in Italy and passed the first year at the University (foreign languages and literatures) in... Udine, Italy. I worked in the retail and hospitality industry in the past, assisting guests from all over the world, talking with them in Italian, English, German and sometimes French. I managed an after-school program for children (elementary and middle school) with a friend, and I taught them how to improve their knowledge of English and German language. I spent a year in Ireland, first working as an au pair and then as an employee at a corporation, dealing with the American and German markets. I have recently got a Cambridge English certificate (C2 level) and a certificate for teaching online from Arizona State University. I am currently studying to get a German certificate (C1 level). I offer English tailor- made lessons for everyone, regardless of age: students and employees, housewives and workers. Depending on your needs, I can teach you the language starting with the basics, explaining topics which are difficult for you to understand, and having conversations, so as to have a more lively way to communicate. I like to enrich my classes not only through textbooks, but also through elements taken from everyday life such as films, newspapers, books, and a good dose of creativity. I am a teacher of English with more than 20 years experience. For the last 15 years I have lived and taught English in the South East of... England, but originally I come from Minsk, Belarus, so English is actually my second language. This means that I certainly know what it is like to be a language learner and can appreciate the challenges you are facing, and I also know how to help you achieve a really high level. I have worked with many different nationalities and almost all age groups and taught a variety of ESOL courses at all levels, including exam preparation classes such as IELTS. I teach with a communicative and learner-centred approach, taking into account your interests, preferences and personal goals, as well as the requirements of the exam you may be working towards. As a DELTA-qualified and experienced tutor, I am familiar with many modern teaching methods, and prefer to use a mix rather than stick to one way of teaching. Depending on your level, your needs and, of course, your wishes, I can make some lessons more structured, with pre-determined objectives, topics and language content, whereas other sessions may be more flexible and informal, so we can discuss a topic or a language problem that comes up naturally during the lesson. I encourage my students to be autonomous learners, so I will welcome your initiative as to how or what you prefer to study, but I can also completely understand it if you prefer to have lessons where the teacher decides what is right for you at this stage. Either way is an effective way of learning and together we can find out very quickly what works for you. Whenever possible, I use authentic resources, such as online newspaper articles and BBC videos, and I often design tasks and exercises myself, to make my lessons more up-to-date and matching your particular situation. I also use materials from EFL coursebooks and language-learning websites. Whatever your level, I will always have a lot of suggestions for you as to what materials and online applications you can use to support your study in between lessons.
