For the past 20 years I have worked with children in various professional capacities, from social workers, child advocates, therapists,... educational toy store owners, and teachers. Since I moved to Europe 6 years ago, I have dedicated myself to teaching non-native students the basics of English in a fun and creative way. Although I have been teaching English in the classroom and privately in Spain and Italy, for the past 4 years I have also been teaching English to Chinese students online for the largest online teaching company in China. I was born and raised in Puerto Rico. I grew up speaking English and Spanish at home and at school. I earned my BA in Psychology and MA in Clinical Child Development in Boston, Massachusetts, USA Years later I earned a Masters in International Business in London, England, UK. I have a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certification. The curriculum, designed for children ages 4 to 12, is divided into five levels, from beginning students to more advanced, using a topic-based approach. The topic-based approach is a form of teaching and learning, whereby many areas of the curriculum are connected and integrated within a topic. Each lesson is organized by topics that are of interest to children. Children learn vocabulary words and simple phrases related to concepts around them, such as family, seasons and weather, clothing, school, and more. At Level 1, children are exposed to familiar concepts such as colors, numbers, shapes, emotions, and parts of the face. As children progress through the curriculum, they expand their knowledge of English from food, clothing, and daily routines to wild animals, vehicles, habitats, sports, and even outer space. In each lesson, children will learn new vocabulary, sentence patterns, grammar, practice their reading and reading comprehension, spelling, and develop their listening and speaking skills.
