Hi!
I'm a professor at an American "Big 10" university, with an Ivy-league Ph.D., offering advanced English conversation, for both informal and academic purposes. Informally, I can also offer you advice on applying to an American university, and/or if you want put the finishing touches on your application materials. My areas of expertise are in comparative literature, religion, mythology & folklore, philosophy, and second language acquisition. I'm also interested in history and music, and always curious to learn about other subjects, ideally from you! I speak German (near-native) and Italian (advanced), so if you're from Germany or Italy I might just be ideal for you.
My style as a teacher is laid-back and informal. (Think: good cop, not bad cop!) I taught English in Germany and Italy for 5 years, so I'm very familiar with the challenges of learning English as a second language. I have a knack for knowing what you're trying to say and helping guide you there with hints and suggestions -- showing, rather than telling you.
Mainly, I offer informal Advanced English conversation, based on your needs and interests, I have also worked with beginners and less advanced students for many years, and am happy to chat and see if I might be right for you, whatever your current level.
