I studied English Language and Literature at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, attending a wide range of courses on applied and theoretical linguistics , literature and translation. Throughout my studies, I also had the chance to participate in various seminars related to learning difficulties and teaching foreign languages which were offered by the university. In 2019, I completed the CELTA course( Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) provided by Cambridge Assessment English and since then I have been teaching English, Greek and Albanian to learners of all ages.
I am from a bilingual Greek/Albanian background and I love experiencing new cultures and meeting new people. That’s the reason why I decided to study abroad for two semesters in Italy and in Ireland which turned out to be a life changing-experience. Apart from practising both Italian and English, I was very fortunate to make friends from around the world and learn about their cultural background. In Greece, I taught English to less fortunate children in between my studies and after graduation, I worked in a Language Center for two years, teaching children and adults of different levels of English.
As languages have been a great part of my life, I can relate with my students’ learning process and have the ability to guide them through this journey with patience and enthusiasm. I strongly believe that everyone has a different learning style and I always try to tailor my lessons according to each learner’s needs and strengths. Although I love a good textbook, I usually incorporate authentic task-based materials i.e newspaper articles, Ted Talks, contemporary songs, recipes, Youtube videos, traditional and interactive games and realia to name a few.
