I am Sandra Correa. I have been teaching English for more than 20 years, both in Mexico and Spain. I have been teaching Spanish for more than 7 years.
I am Bsc in Food Engineering. However I have always liked teaching. So, in the early 90's I took a master for teaching English as a Foreiign Language. I worked for the National University of Mexico (UNAM) for 7 years and then moved to Spain. I started teaching here in 2001, too.
Teaching Spanish is a very challenging task. Whereas in English I know how to overcome difficult grammar topics and have resources for it as I'm a not anative speaker, in Spanish I have to study a lot of Spanish grammar on my own, as we do not question why we prefer some tenses to others, but I do have to explain to students.
I tailor my courses according to my students' needs and goals and I want to them to make as much profit as they can from their experience of learning a foreign language. I used current books available, and I also prepare materials, trying to enhance speaking skills and accuracy. We practise grammar and learn new vocabulary in a communicative way, and depending on the class we sing and play games. Learning has to be fun for everyone.
I specialise in teaching teenagers and adults. I have prepared students for academic purposes and international certifications, both in English and Spanish.
Teaching has become a very enriching experience. I really enjoy seeing my students' progress through their language learning. I enjoy all the challenges that it involves to teach to communicate other people. I learn from them in every class.
