ABOUT ME
I am originally from France, with Tunisian roots. My love of languages had led me to travel extensively and I have been teaching French for over 7 years in a variety of countries and contexts, for all ages and levels. I am currently based in the UK, and while I focus on communicating in French with my students, I am also fluent in English and German and can use these languages for explanations.
OUR LESSONS
Not sure where to start? After we chat I will be able to identify your level and we will devise a French plan of action according to what you want and need.
I prioritise an interactive, hands-on and highly tailored approach to tutoring. I plan and conduct my lessons using different methods according to the learning goals, and types of learning preferred by my students. I especially insist on using genuine resources and adapt them when necessary.
I mostly focus on a communicative and socio-linguistic approach and always use a range of different types of activities to make classes lively and engaging. I also make sure to bring life and culture from the French speaking world into our sessions and not just to stick to theory.
I am a French native speaker who knows to adapt my pace of speech and vocabulary according to the level of my interlocutor. I have prepared students for French A-Level, IB and GCSE at King`s College School, and focusing on pre-U and A-level for Westminster School for 2014-2018, and Highgate school 2018-2019. As a Fulbright laureate, I taught French in an American college at a beginner and intermediate level 2019-2020. This means I have extensive knowledge of exam boards and syllabi (AQA, Edexcel, OCR, WJEC and Cambridge).
MY TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I began as a tutor by helping French people with English (GCSE level, but also preparing for interviews, and masters level exams), and teaching a Japanese family to learn French while in Lyon. In London, I continued tutoring a diverse range of people, IRL and online: from GCSE students needing revision, to adults wanting to brush up on their French, British retirees and expats looking to interact with their neighbours in France, native French speakers born elsewhere needing help with accuracy and also people taking French exams without having taken the subject at school. What the lessons had in common was adapting my methods to suit individual needs, and building students` confidence especially in regard to speaking French.
I have been teaching French online, using the audiovisual elements for individual focused sessions, for a few years and recently made the successful transition to teaching whole sets online during the pandemic.
