Assistant teacher duties: During the same year that I stared at Little Darlings for HR, I started assisting the Principal with all her groups (ages 1-6), helping with activities, reading and motor skills. I assist with social, emotional and educational development. I provide a support structure to the principal and other teachers. I reinforce lessons by helping the children individually or in their groups. I assist with overseeing lessons, activities and preparation for classes. Revise lesson materials with students individually or in a group. Help with word pronunciation and word formation. I use a lot of Total Physical response when teaching as it helps the children to understand. I help with setting out games to help the children become more confident and have fun while learning. It also allows the use of sound and lots of expression to be used which is always fun. Monitoring classes and children’s progress for reports for junior school or parents. I oversee students during and between classes and lunchtime. Follow school rules to teach and guide children towards proper behavior. I do attendance registers for all staff and students. HR Duties: I started working in the office doing all the HR and Admin functions, such as: payments, invoices, HR meetings, staff and work polices. I deal with recruitment and performance management. Industrial Relations (CCMA preparation). Staff training and getting them to understand work procedures. See to all staff/student injuries. Adhere to health and safety act and teach staff about it.
