The first thing you have to know about the Bulgarian language is that its alphabet is much more different than the English one. The Bulgarian language is a Southern Slavic language that uses the Cyrillic alphabet, similar to the Russian alphabet. At first you could be a little bit confused and it could take more time for you to learn the new letters and sounds, but it is not impossible. With some effort and desire you will achieve your goal. Here you can learn the Bulgarian alphabet free and with examples.
In the table below you will find all the Bulgarian letters. You will also see example words in both Bulgarian and English, so that you can learn how to pronounce them correctly.

There are 6 vocals:
In the Bulgarian language there are 6 vocal letters. Look at them and study them using the table. You have to be very careful when you read and write , because in some words they sound the same.

Consonants in the Bulgarian language:
It will be easier for you to understand the difference in the pronunciation of the Bulgarian letter. Some of them have a soft sound and the others - a hard sound. There are words in which the two opposite sounds are pronounced in the same way. So, be aware of that. In these cases, you have to know how to write the word correctly.

Hello All,
It is nice to meet you and I would be more than glad to discuss your learning goals in a trail lesson of 30 minutes so we could know each other better. I have a level 3 award in Education by YMCA, where I have planned and delivered a lesson on the topic Bulgarian alphabet to English students. On the other hand I am currently finishing my study in Bulgarian Linguistics and Literature at the Sofia's university. I spent a few years in England where I have been a Learning assistant for ESOL classes, which is teaching English as a second language. I also have a degree from University of Sheffield in Business Administration.
Before starting the lessons we will have to do an assessment to see the level of the student. Once this is done and our goals are set, even if it is for a few lessons only, we will adapt the student centered methodology. The lessons will be interactive, with a participative style -grammar rules will be discussed, speaking , writing and vocabulary.

Dani is a wonderful teacher. I'm a native Bulgarian speaker with a non-Bulgarian speaking son. For years I have tried to motivate him to learn from me, with minimal success, unfortunately. Since we started lessons with Dani, my son is now able to understand and engage in basic conversational exchanges; and this is only after seven lessons! Dani comes prepared to the lessons, but is flexible and able to change lesson plans on the spot, based on what the interests of the student may be that day. Some days my son wants to talk about sports cars, others he likes to talk about sports. Here are a few tips on how to get the most out of every lesson:
1. Review what you covered in your previous lesson.
2. Focus on things you had difficulty with. I will definitely go over them.
3. It is always a great idea to take notes during your lessons. It helps you stay more focused on what you are learning.
4. Feel free to ask me if anything has come up since your last lesson that you want clarification on. Your questions do not have to be prior lesson related, maybe you are just curious about how to say something.
5. Be sure you have completed your homework assignments. If you were not able to complete them, make notes about what stumped you. Were the instructions not clear enough, was the vocabulary beyond your level of comprehension, were the grammar rules too overwhelming, was there too much homework for the time you had planned to spend on it, and so on.
6. Contact me prior to your next lesson if there are any issues or changes you would like to make me aware of so I can have a chance to make changes to your learning plan.

Daniela is a very good and accommodating teacher. She adjusts to the student and the students need and is very flexible in her teaching method. She has deep knowledge of Bulgarian language and is able to answer any question that I throw at her. I am not an easy student as I can speak some Bulgarian and I am constantly challenging her and she is always able to assist me improve. I recommend her completely for students who desire flexibility in learning.

Hello All,
It is nice to meet you and I would be more than glad to discuss your learning goals in a trail lesson of 30 minutes so we could know each other better. I have a level 3 award in Education by YMCA, where I have planned and delivered a lesson on the topic Bulgarian alphabet to English students. On the other hand I am currently finishing my study in Bulgarian Linguistics and Literature at the Sofia's university. I spent a few years in England where I have been a Learning assistant for ESOL classes, which is teaching English as a second language. I also have a degree from University of Sheffield in Business Administration.
Before starting the lessons we will have to do an assessment to see the level of the student. Once this is done and our goals are set, even if it is for a few lessons only, we will adapt the student centered methodology. The lessons will be interactive, with a participative style -grammar rules will be discussed, speaking , writing and vocabulary.
For English -Cambridge books
For Bulgarian- filmcards , cards with pictures and names in Bulgarian. Printed materials in regards to Bulgarian language.
Lessons will be delivered in English or/and Bulgarian.

My name is Monika and I am fluent Bulgarian and English speaker. I can help you to learn Bulgarian and/or English if you are a beginner or if you want to prepare for your exams in Bulgarian grammar. I am passionate about languages because I found it easy to study languages in general. I took my final exam in Bulgarian grammar and literature with A. I also graduated Glasgow Caledonian University, which of course required IELTS.
I would discribe myself as a very patient, supportive and highly motivated person. I don't like to put pressure on my students because the brain works better when the focus goes on the learning materials, not on the stress.
I want to help everyone, who wants to learn Bulgarian and/or English without any struggle.

Харесвам да уча езици, защото го намирам за нещо, с което се справям лесно. Средното си образование завърших с 5.80 на матурата по български език и литература. След него, завърших и бакалавър в Glasgow Caledonian University, който разбира се изискваше езиков изпит по английски - IELTS.
