Cultural studies is a field politically, theoretically and empirically linked to cultural analysis. It focuses on the political dynamics and historical foundations of contemporary culture by defining conflicts and characteristics. Researchers in the field of cultural studies often explore how cultural practices relate to the broader system of power. This power system is associated with or operates through social phenomena such as ideology, class structures, national formations, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, and generation. Cultural studies see cultures as fixed, limited, unchanging and independent of each other, rather than seeing them as entities that constantly interact with each other and change practices and processes.
