Since there is no English medium senior schools in our village I home schooled my daughters for their senior and senior secondary years. I did all the things teachers would do: planning, lesson preparation, give lesson, provide tests and prepare them for their exams. Both daughters did very well and went on to get degrees.

Ran an English programme for anyone interested in improving their English.
For the school children we did mostly reading, focusing first on pronunciation then fluency etc. We always discussed the passage/pages read to make sure they understood what was read(comprehension) and giving alternatives eg boy/girl, fast/ faster/fastest, one/many, cow/bull/calf(grammar).
the library was open to the public in the afternoons and some evenings. This is when older students and parents came us for assistance with reading, grammar, assignments and projects.

Taught the ABC's(alphabet), colours, numbers, shapes, sounds(phonics) etc to children of a young age. Made learning as much fun as possible with singing, dancing, playing games while incorporating the lessons. At story time I would discuss the story and ask questions(comprehension). There would be news(giving children a turn to tell the class what they did over the weekend or holidays) and Show and Tell (giving each student a time to bring something from home to tell the class about eg toy or pet). This builds confidence in public speaking. We did art using different mediums based on the lessons(colours, patterns, etc), colouring in(hand eye co-ordination) or free-style. At playtime, besides free play we encouraged children to kick balls, ride plastic scooters, skip rope, etc(improve motor skills)
