I am a certified English/Arabic/French/Italian teacher with two degrees in Interpreting and Translation and three Cambridge Teacher Trainings... (TEFL, TESOL, CELTA). I am currently enrolled in the DELTA program (Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) which is the highest English teacher training worldwide recognized. At the beginning of my classes, it is important to evaluate students' needs and aims and in order to do that, I will send a "needs' analysis" so that I can better help you with your learning. I mainly use Zoom as teaching platform because I think it is much better than Skype or Microsoft Teams because it allows a much better student-teacher interaction pattern. According to Steven Krashen, one of the most renown linguist and education experts: "The best methods are therefore those that supply 'comprehensible input' in low anxiety situations, containing messages that students really want to hear. These methods do not force early production in the second language but allow students to produce when they are 'ready', recognizing that improvement comes from supplying communicative and comprehensible input, and not from forcing and correcting production". Personally, I think that this is the right approach to teach because as a teacher we need to create a safe environment for our students, lower their effective filter so they can perform at their best potential. I realized after years of experience as a languages student and teacher that several countries not just my country (Italy) have been using a teaching methodology which is obsolete and not suitable for students' needs and aims. The 80-20 rule is the sure way to achieve this goal. Can you guess which part is the student's one? The 80 of course, you are the one who needs to improve, to talk and learn. We as teachers we are doing whatever it takes to guide you through the process. During my experience as a teacher I worked with teenagers, university students and adults. I had the pleasure to teach Arabic to university students who needed further assistance for their exams. I taught to adults’ businessmen who needed to learn the basis of Arabic because of their work. I taught French and English to teenagers and university students that needed further help with their exams or simply to improve their listening and speaking skills. I have also experience in teaching Business English. Read more

My name is Duscovich Daniele and I am perfectly native in Italian and German. Learning a foreign language is like practicing a sport: to... achieve a good level you have to practice and not to give up at the very first difficulty. It will be necessary to develop various skills, among which: speaking comprehension, reading comprehension, listening comprehension and written expression. A language has to be learnt actively and “lively”: the language should not remain on paper, but you have to breath it, to feel it and to make it your own. To help my students in this “training”, I use material I chose and prepared according to the single cases: grammar exercises, books, grammar books, material found on the Internet, videos, and CDs. Maximum flexibility concerning time and type of course, especially with regard to the objectives to be achieved: upgrading of the language level, conversation, preparation to particular exams, remedial classes for school, etc. Read more

I have a Bachelor of Arts degree but most of my experiences have been in the English as a Second Language (ESL) field. I would like to think of... my method as what is known as the communicative method. Essentially I speak AND conduct ALL my lessons in English: no translations. However I am willing to use instruction in simple terms as well as with examples. If the lesson requires that I deal with ABSOLUTE beginners, seeing as I am in Italy, then I may use Italian to coax my students along. Because of the COVID-19 epidemic, I have had to modify my lessons but I still rely on VISUAL aids, especially for absolute beginners. In any case, I do use pictures for setting up a lesson point, as a means of introducing something. When students have me, they can be assured of someone who is patient and accepts ANY kind of query [or else why invest in a language lesson]. I try to keep the environment as light as possible, owning to the fact that most students have the pressure to succeed (if it is to pass an exam with distinction) as well as, in a sense, speaking or using a language that is not one's own. For this, I try to keep the lesson environment as informal as possible to relax students nervous or uncertain as it is. I also believe it important to meet the students needs. What I do is no different to any other customer, whether it is in a restaurant, to a service like language instruction. It is always my hope the student comes away with having learned something. Looking forward to meeting students soon! Read more

I was born in Benin and left my country at the age of two. My family and I moved to Nigeria where we lived for 11 years and then moved to... Cameroon where I did my schooling and obtained my O’level certificate. For the above reasons I grew up as a bilingual as we often traveled to French and English speaking countries such as France and the Uk. I currently live in Italy where I moved for studies in translation and interpretation. I graduated in 1999 and have lived and worked here since then as a private teacher and in private schools and companies. I feel comfortable as an Italian teacher too though it’s not my mother tongue because I graduated with Italian as my first foreign language and have lived in Italy for the past 30 years besides being married to an Italian which helps a lot:). I adopt an inclusive learning method which provides all students with access to flexible learning choices and effective paths to achieve their goals and experience a sense of belonging. As a facilitator, students assume a much more active role in the learning process. In this method, students learn from and are continually assessed. I also use devices like laptops and tablets including the internet. Read more

Hi everyone! I'm Vanessa and I'm a freelance translator and language teacher. I'm a native Italian speaker and I earned a BA in Applied... Interlinguistic Communication in English, Spanish and Portuguese and a MA in Specialised Translation and Conference Interpreting in English and Spanish (both at the University of Trieste, Italy). In the last few years I have been offering Italian, English and Spanish lessons at all levels, to students and adults, in groups as well! The first lesson is free: we can get to know each other and decide what we're going to do according to your needs (exam preparation, vocabulary improvement, speaking skills, exc.). I usually use materials that you can easily find online but if you already own something, we can make it work. See you soon! Read more
